Mother of 3 caught with drugs in her Private-part, sentenced to death (Photo)

A 40-year-old Kenyan woman was on Sunday, 28th of May sentenced to death by a Malaysian High Court after she was found guilty of trafficking methamphetamine four years ago.

The mother of three was arrested on November 30, 2013, at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport after arriving from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Malaysian Daily Express reports that Rose Achieng Ojala had stuffed three capsules of the drug into her private part and swallowed another 68 capsules, all weighing about 400gm.

Hamburger Laid To Rest, As Wife, Kids Fly In From Dublin [photo]

The slain chairman of the Motorcycle Owners Association of Lagos State, Aro Rasaq Bello, popularly known as Hamburger has been buried today.


His wife and children flew in Wednesday night to be part of his burial. His family lives in Dubin, Ireland, but had to come and pay their last respect to him. [see here]

TVC News Africa, shut down as Tinubu sacks 145 staff

Continental, TVC and Radio Continental, on Friday sacked 145 of its workers in a major shake-up as a result of economic downturn in the country and to keep the media group alive.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the news was broken to the staff after a meeting at the station’s headquarters in Ikosi, Lagos between the management and the entire staff.
Sources at the meeting said the Station’s Chief Executive Officer told the distraught workers that the sack became imperative because the stations are struggling to survive commercially.

Nsima Ekere Visits Victims of Convoy Accident in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State

Barely 24 hours after the convoy of the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr Nsima Ekere, was involved in a ghastly auto-crash along Calabar-Itu Highway [see here], the NDDC boss has visited the victims of the accident at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, today, June 2, 2017.
Mr Ekere was on his way to Calabar, Cross River state, yesterday, to receive the Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, when a truck rammed into his convoy causing the death of a policeman instantly, and another who died in the hospital. The accident left some victims who were rushed to the UUTH with various degree of injuries.

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Friday, announced the appointment of 192 Special Assistants, a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie (Esq.) contained.
The appointees, which represent a true reflection of all the 192 electoral wards in the three Senatorial Districts that make up the state, make history as being products of inclusive and participatory governance in Edo state. Those appointed from each LG therefore represent the number of wards in such local governments.

Mark Zuckerberg, Obama, Macron react to Trump pulling out of Paris climate agreement

President Donald Trump On Thursday pulled the United States out of the climate change agreement signed in 2015.

Announcing his decision during a press conference, Trump said, “In order to fulfill my solemn duty to protect America and its citizens, the United States will withdraw from the Paris climate accord but begin negotiations to re-enter either the Paris accord, or an entirely new transaction on terms that are fair to the United States, its businesses, its workers, its people, its tax-payers.''

Immediately after his announcement, former President Barack Obama issued a statement saying
his country was rejecting the future.

 
“The nations that remain in the Paris Agreement will be the nations that reap the benefits in jobs and industries created.”

‘I Used Names Of Politicians’, Five Star Hotels To Steal’ (photo)

Mr James Udobong, who allegedly specialized in swindling phone dealers selling in major plazas in Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, has been arrested. Udobong, 29, from Akwa Ibom State, said he resides at Lugbe Airport Road, Abuja and used to repair phones at Wuse Market.

Until he was kicked out of his shop because he couldn’t pay his rent. He first came to Abuja in 2003, during the under 17 Golden Eaglet Camp. He was part of the hopefuls, but he wasn’t selected.

According to him, his friends initiated him into stealing of phones. He further disclosed that his friends took him to Transcorp Hotel and other five star hotels in Abuja, where they targeted drunken guests. Remembering how Udobong was arrested, a police source said:

Nigeria beat Togo 3-0 in Nations Cup warm-up

Nigeria’s Ahmed Musa scored twice and Kelechi Iheanacho added a third as they romped to a 3-0 win over Togo in a friendly international on Thursday.

All the goals came before the half-hour mark in the match at the Municipal Stadium in Saint Leu La Foret.

Leicester City striker Musa took his goal tally to 13 for the Super Eagles after three minutes, having been set up by Alex Iwobi who provded the same service in the 17th.

Edo fertilizer blending plant to commence operation in June

Consequent to Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State’s inspection of facilities and work progress on the Fertilizer Blending Plant in Auchi area of Etsako West Local Government of the state on Thursday, it has emerged that the plant will become functional before the end of June, this year.


The governor gave this assurance after receiving reports from Mr Ayodele Ejaoye, the General Manager of the Technical Company managing the fertilizer plant, who also said that the blending plant could produce about 55.000 metric tons of fertilizer per year.


He noted that with the progress of work and the facilities on ground, the plant could be test run by June 10, after which full production would begin, adding that the plant would employ about 120 direct and indirect workers when it became operational.

Obaseki urges communities to protect public projects

Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, on Thursday, called on communities to protect public assets and infrastructures in their domains.

This was as he inspected a severely failed portion of Ihevbe-Afuze road, which passed through Ihevbe Community of Owan East Local Government Area in Edo North Senatorial District where he noted that the road failed as a result of blocked drainages, which caused the excess water to put pressure on the road by way of erosion.

Continuing, Governor Obaseki also observed that the wearing away of the road constituted a death trap to not only motorists plying that route, but also to residents and locals especially because there was nothing to indicate that the road had eroded, and anyone could easily fall into the gully by the road side.

Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo speaks from prison, accuses court registrar of stalling her release

Former Oyo state governor’s daughter, Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo has accused the chief registrar attached to the Port Harcourt Division of the Federal High Court of sitting on her case in order to keep her perpetually behind bars, despite having allegedly met her bail conditions.

Ms. Omololu-Olunloyo spoke from inside Port Harcourt Prison where she has been remanded since her initial arraignment in mid-March for alleged criminal defamation against a Port-Harcourt-based preacher, David Ibiyeomie.

Speaking with PREMIUM TIMES inside the office of the Comptroller of Prisons in Rivers State, Ifeanyi Amaliri, last week, Ms. Omololu-Olunloyo stated that her lawyers had satisfied all bail requirements set by H.I.O. Shamah, a federal judge who granted her bail on April 11.

Reps propose six months jail term for anyone that jumps queues

The House of Representatives is proposing a six months jail term for anyone caught jumping queues in public places. The bill which is currently on the floor of the house, scaled second reading yesterday June 1st.

Reps summon Finance Minister, AGF over N17bn office equipment procurement


The House of Representatives Committee on Public Procurement has summoned the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, over allegations that N17 billion was used for the procurement of office equipment. The lawmakers also summoned the Auditor-General of the Federation (AGF), Ahmed Idris, and former Accountant-General of the Federation Jonah Otunla, over the transaction.
 
Issuing the summons, the Chairman of the committee, Oluwole Oke, said that the three officials had violated the provisions of section 15 of the Public Procurement Act 2007 as it pertained to the role of procurement entities.

Edo Governor, Deputy, Otaru, muslim leaders break Ramadan fast

Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, on Wednesday evening, joined the Otaru of Auchi, HRH, Alhaji Aliru Momoh, (Ikelebe III) and other Muslim traditional and religious leaders to break the fifth day of the Muslin Ramadan fast at the Otaru's Palace in Auchi, Estako West Local government Area of the state.

He said the visit was to show solidarity with Muslim fellows as well as encourage them to continue to pray for the state, country and speedy recovery of president Buhari.

"Ramadan is one of the key pillars in Islam. We decided that in the spirit of brotherliness, we come and felicitate with you and be grateful to Allah for making the country come out stronger despite the economic challenges," he said
