African Fruit Producers and Exporters Come Together to Create "AFFRUIBANA", First Pan-African Association in Defence of Their Interests

AFRUIBANA, an association of fruit producers and exporters from Cameroon, the Ivory Coast and Ghana was officially launched in Brussels during a visit by Cameroon Trade Minister, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana, to European institutions on Wednesday, 19 July. As representative of the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP) during the various Councils of Ministers addressing the banana industry, the minister was lauded for this initiative, which will allow fruit producers on the continent to combine their efforts with a view to having their voices heard better in international trade.
AFRUIBANA is an association established under Cameroonian law and gathers several representatives of producers and exporters from different sub-Saharan countries, notably Assobacam,

Breaking: Buhari Hosts APC Governors, Leaders to a Lunch In London [photos]

President Buhari met with some state governors and the National Chairman of APC, John Odigie-Oyegun in London yesterday despite speculations that the president was bed-ridden. In a telephone conversation following the meeting, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, said the President was very cheerful and has not lost any bit of his sense of humour.

 
Okorocha said the party delegation spent more than an hour with President Buhari over lunch, and it was very clear from the discussions that he followed developments at home very closely. He said the President was delighted to receive the delegation and asked each governor about affairs in his state.

Lagos Government To Demolish Buildings Blocking Drainage Channels

In a bid to mitigate the incidence of flooding, the Lagos State Government on Sunday ordered owners of properties erected on drainage channels and impeding the free-flow of water to immediately vacate or risk being removed.
The Government, in a statement signed by the Commissioner for the Environment, Dr. Babatunde Adejare, expressed dismay that the lawless activities of some people was constantly putting the lives and property of residents at risk.

Sad: 10-hour heavy rainfall kills Man in Owerri [photos]

According to online reports, a young man has died following a 10-hour rainfall in Owerri, the Imo State Capital.


The deceased named Izuchukwu died along the Nekede by West end road.
