Ohaneze Youths Warn Osinbajo - There Must Not Be Mass Slaughter Of Igbos Tomorrow





Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, OYC, has called on acting President, Yemi Osinbajo to protect pro-Biafra agitators who will be participating in the sit-at-home declared tomorrow.
 
In a press statement made available to journalists, which was signed by the groups’s Deputy National President and the National Secretary, Dr. Arthur Obiora and Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, respectively, the OYC said, “Ndigbo shall hold Osinbajo responsible as the Acting President of Nigeria should anything happen to any of our youths.

Kenyan Presidential Aspirant Arrested For Allegedly Attempting Suicide

Peter Gichira, a Kenyan Presidential aspirant has been arrested and charged for attempted suicide.
 
Police say he was arrested on Saturday for trying to jump from the sixth floor of the electoral commission’s offices after his bid to run for president was rejected; STANDARD MEDIA reports. Gichira was among eight candidates who failed to meet the criteria to contest the 8 August election in Kenya.

He however pleaded not guilty to all the charges and was released on $2,000 (£1,5000) bail.

NYSC to Start Posting Youth Corpers to Farms

The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, will start posting corps members to farms, according to the corp's Director General Suleiman Kazaure.

Speaking in an interview during his official visit to the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Sagamu, Ogun State, he said this move is in line with the agricultural development programme of the NYSC.
 
He said that Bauchi, Oyo, Kebbi and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, had been earmarked for the pilot phase.

“It should interest you to know that the NYSC will soon begin its agricultural development scheme where corps members will be posted to farms for their primary assignments.

Alhaji Abdulkadir Balarebe Musa, former governor of old Kaduna State claims that Nigeria is still under Military rule.

German Minister Blasts Donald Trump


Germany’s foreign minister Sigmar Gabriel, on Monday launched a scathing criticism of US President Donald Trump, saying his actions have “weakened” the West and that his government is standing “against the interests of the European Union.”

This coming 24 hours after German Chancellor Angela Merkel declared that Europe could no longer completely rely on traditional allies such as the U.S. and Britain.

Sad: Stray Bullet Kills Pastor's Only Child In Benin City (Photos)

Strategy struck yesterday along BIU Road, Ugbor, Benin City as sporadic gun fire  claimed the life of a young undergraduate.
 
 


The deceased, Tobi Igioh., who was the only child of the former General Manager of Edo Broadcasting Service, Pastor Mrs Sidi Lawal -Igioh, was hit by a stray bullet when the hoodlums were trying to escape after they had successfully robbed some shops in the area around 6.30 pm.

Other persons injured in the attack are now receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital, with the police on the trail of the hoodlums. 

May his soul rest in peace

Cross River State pardons over 30 prisoners

Ben Ayade the governor of Cross River State Governor has granted clemency to over 30 prisoners who are currently serving jail term for various crimes.



The governor explained that their release was in the spirit of the celebration of the state’s 50th anniversary which coincides with the Children’s Day celebration.

A breakdown of the figure of the pardoned prisoners shows that five prisoners were on death row, 16 on life sentences, four inmates above 60 years, while nine others were terminally ill.

Newborn baby 'starts walking' minutes after being born in a Brazil hospital

An unbelievable video has gone viral on Facebook and it features a newborn baby walking just as soon as she was born, to the amazement of nurses. The tiny tot was being cradled by the midwife as she attempted to give her her first bath but the baby had other ideas and bound out of the woman's body, then moves her feet and walks while held by the nurse...

 

The midwife carrying the baby across her chest couldn't believe what had just happened as the infant fights to walk on her own. The nurse's voice can be heard in the video as she cried out in amazement:

“Oh my gosh, the girl is walking. Good gracious!”

Renowed Professor, Abubakar Momoh Is Dead


Abubakar Momoh, prominent Nigerian civil society leader and director general of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Electoral Institute, has died.

His associate and lawyer, Abdul Mahmoud, confirmed the news to Premium Times on Monday.
Until his death, Mr. Abubakar was the dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Lagos State University, LASU.

Democracy Day Tragedy: 3-Storey Building Collapse in Lagos, Many Trapped



Black Democracy Day in Lagos island area of Lagos state as another three-storey building collapsed on Monday.

This is the fourth building to have collapsed in Lagos in less than months.

According to PM News, the collapsed three-storey building was being renovated with people inside when it caved in, with two people confirmed dead and several others still trapped..


Rescue operation is still ongoing as emergency responders are working frantically to rescue trapped victims in the building located at Daddy Alhaja Street, Oke Arin, Lagos Island, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

Mercy Aigbe: Lagos State Govt Writes Police, Demands Transfer Of Case Files

The Lagos State Government has written to Nigerian Police, demanding that it forward the duplicate of the case file on alleged assault on the Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe by her husband, Lanre Gentry. According to Vanguard, the request for the case file shows Government’s resolve not to back down from the case between actress and her husband. 

The State Government in a letter written through the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, DPP, May 22, indicated its interest in prosecuting the alleged case of assault.

Lagos Chapel Members Desert Church Over Sacking Of Presiding Chaplain

The Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja was a shadow of itself on Sunday during the Sunday service as many members of the church did not show up. It was observed that the chapel was sparsely filled as the service, which usually ended around 1pm, was brought to a close at 11.30am.

The Punch observed that of the 30 church members that were supposed to be part of the birthday thanksgiving service for the month of May, only nine were present.

From prayer session led by the Chaplain, Very Rev. Ayo Oyadotun, to the choir ministration, the general theme was overcoming difficult times and fighting forces seeking to scatter the church.

IPOB Supporters Donate Cow Named ‘Buhari’ To Nnamdi Kanu


Following the May 30th declaration by Biafra agitators as sit-at-home Day in commemoration of their so called Biafra Independence, some members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) claimed to be based in Malaysia but travelled home for the planned Biafra Day have donated a live cow allegedly named “Buhari” to their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, to be killed on Biafra Day.

The story as seen on Breaking Times, said that Mr. Kanu “who has received hundreds of visitors including high-placed politicians since he was released on bail by an Abuja High Court in April, accepted the gift warmly.”

Teachers arrested for cutting pupils nails and taking their blood samples in Ondo

 
Two teachers in Ondo State have been arrested by the state police command for collecting the fingernails and blood samples of two pupils in a very suspicious manner.


According to reports, the teachers identified as Sola Kalejaiye and Blessing Omowera collected the samples with the intent of using them for rituals. The state police command in a statement released, said Omowera who is a teacher at Heritage Nursery and Primary School, Ondo town, had called two of her pupils, both three year old, forward to cut their nails.

Democracy day: Acting President Yemi Osinbajo addresses the nation, read full text of his speech

To celebrate this year's Democracy day, acting president, Yemi Osinbajo, this morning addressed the nation. In his speech, he highlighted the progress made by the Military in the war against Boko Haram, engagement of the Niger Deltans. He said the government is working with State governments, and tasking security agencies with designing effective strategies and interventions that will bring this menace to an end.



On the fight against corruption, Osinbajo said the war against corruption is on course and that the government will not relent in its fight to bring those who looted government funds within the last few years to book. He said the Finance ministry through the Treasury Single Account has blocked all leakages in government funds.

"There will be no election in 'biafraland'- Nnamdi Kanu says as he insists on a referendum


The Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, yesterday broke one of the bail conditions set by the Federal High Court, Abuja for his release. Justice Binta Nyako had earlier stated that Kanu's bail will be revoked if he flouts any of the orders in his bail conditions, one of which is that he's not to be in a gathering of more than 10 people.

Nnamdi Kanu however addressed a religious Shabbat rally in the presence of his parents and family members on Saturday. Watch the video after the cut.

NIS CG Pays Surprise Visit to Lagos Airport, Nabs Immigration Officers Misbehaving

Several Immigration officers engaging in improper and unprofessional conduct at the Murtalal Mohammed International Airport in Lagos have been invited for questioning and sanctions.

This is according to the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mr Muhammad Babandede. He has vowed to apply stiffer sanctions on any officer who engages in professional misconduct.

The NIS boss said he visited the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos, on “undercover mission’’ recently to monitor the NIS operations.
