Most people don't like military coups. That's because it ushers in a period of uncertainty, confusion and fear.

Despite this, military coups abound in many areas of the world. Nigeria has experience numerous coups after her independence. The recent victim is Zimbabwe; and although the nation's military say the ousting of President Robert Mugabe is not a coup, the African Union and other parts of the world disagree.
