Federal government has said it is working on a proposal to enable teachers earn the highest starting salaries among all other civil servants.
Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu on Thursday said the move was to attract the best graduates into the teaching profession.
Represented by the Minister of State for Education, Professor Anthony Anwukah, Adamu made the comment during the inauguration ceremony of the Governing Councils of 21 Federal Colleges of Education.
He said teaching profession has ceased to be ‘all-comers affairs’.
He asked teachers at all levels to register with the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) before the end of this year or risk dismissal.
