The Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, has received as gifts two tortoises said to be 117 years old from the Otaru of Auchi, His Royal Highness, Aliyu Momoh, Ikelebe III, in the Etsako West Local Government Area of the state.
The Oba received the tortoises when he visited traditional rulers in the Edo North senatorial district.
The Oba urged the monarchs to create investment environment that would allow agriculture to strive and enhance food production and job creation.
He assured the people of the state that he would build on the solid foundation laid by his predecessors.
Omo N'Oba, stressed that the palace was already working out modalities to broaden the classification of various ethnic groups in the Bini annual Igue festival to consolidate on the Bini historical link as a homogeneous cultural state.
The royal father maintained that all cultural groups and festivals in the entire state will be unified under the umbrella of Edo state Council of traditional rulers and chiefs, adding that specific dates have been set aside to celebrate those ethnic groups that migrated from Edo land.
"My visit is to thank you for your contribution and support during my coronation as the 40th Oba of Benin.
"Secondly, I am here my capacity as Chairman of Edo Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs to urge you to key into the state government’s agricultural policy that will create employment for our youths.

In his remark, the Otaru of Auchi pledged the support of other traditional rulers in Edo North for the Benin monarch.
He also urged the Oba to lead the advocacy for the roles of traditional rulers to be captured or specified in the country’s constitution.
He commended the Oba in his quest to forge a common language for Edo people.
“Your commitment in forging a common language for Edo is highly commended.
“As for we traditional rulers of Edo North, we are solidly behind you and support your quest in achieving this feat.
“We pray that your reign brings peace and prosperity to Edo and Nigeria,” the Otaru said.
