Former Senate Chief Whip, Senator Roland Owie has said Nigeria is negatively drifting economically and politically under the watchful leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Senator Owie stated this on Saturday at the first National Merit award of National Confraternity of Christian Mothers held in Benin City, the Edo state Capital.
Owie said the All Progressives Congress APC after combining efforts with other parties to win the 2015 presidential election suddenly became clueless on how to govern the country. He added that the inability of the president to take full charge has led to more economy and political ruin stating that those who have been chosen to lead must be compassionate about the people.
The former Senator representing Edo South attributed insecurity especially in the Northern part of the country as lack of good parental care urging women to be good ambassadors and take very good care of their children.
According to him, “When a home is organised, the children are organized. In a responsible home, you wouldn’t find Boko Haram, so Christian mothers are dedicating their lives to bring up children both male and female.
“We plead with all women in this country whether Muslim or Christian to take care of their children to ensure that this country is governed properly because out there when women takes care of the home, there will be peace in the community.
He went further: “The problem with this government is that if Buhari was really in charge you wouldn’t see what is happening now. From what I see, because APC gathered to win government, they didn’t gather to know how to govern.
“The country is drifting totally, economically and politically and only God will save us. The truth is let all the governors in the North come and put their legs down and know that when God give you an opportunity to be governor of a state, you must be compassionate about the people”. Owie stated.
