President Muhammadu Buhari, on Monday,
commissioned four key projects of the Governor Adams Oshiomhole
administration and praised the Governor his masses-oriented projects.
Speaking
at the commissioning of the 200-bed hospital, the President with the
hospital “we can see what some of the APC Governors are doing and we can
compare it to other places”.

At the commissioning of the
6-lane Siluko road, complete with street lights, walkways and
underground drains, the President said “I thank the Governor profusely
for inviting me, not once, not twice to come to share his success. By
your reaction here, I know you understand and you are grateful for the
personal sacrifices that he made.
“Personally, in the sense
that he could have built a comfortable Government House and remain
there, watching you to sort things out the best way you could,
otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to build this road.
“I
am very impressed with the professional description by the Commissioner,
how he has done the drainage and how he has done the road to make it
last. This shows great commitment and God almighty will reward you for
your good intentions and for your love for your constituency.
Also
speaking, Governor Adams Oshiomhole said, “One of the things we have
deliberately done is to put our resources where they will have maximum
impact on the lives of our people. For us, government responsibility is
to focus on those things that will deliver the greatest happiness to the
greatest number of citizens in the shortest possible time.
“As
you can see, this is not a GRA, but this road leads to where the real
people are the real forgotten majority. They are the ones we use for
census purposes so that we can attract revenue allocation. They are the
ones who queue to vote, whether it is raining or it is sunny, without
whom we democrats cannot be in office. But oftentimes, when they have
finished, they are forgotten until the next four years. We have tried to
bond with them by addressing the critical areas of their needs. That
informed the choice of this area.”
Oshiomhole continued, “I am
glad that this road has opened up two other local government areas, and
it has made life a lot easier. I want to thank the Enogie, I want to
thank His Royal Majesty, Omo n’Oba n’ Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II
for his support without which it could have been impossible to do some
of the things we had to do.
“I am grateful to Mr President for graciously accepting to come to commission this major project.”
On
the new 200-bed Central Hospital, Oshiomhole told the President that
the old Central Hospital was built in 1902, 114 years ago and “rather
than do piecemeal renovation, we decided to build a new hospital.
“We demolished a portion of the old hospital built in 1902 and built this new hospital.
My own idea is that public health institutions should not be inferior to private health institutions.”
The
President also inspected the Queen Ede gully erosion site reclamation
done by the Oshiomhole government and commissioned the Samuel Ogbemudia
College, which is perhaps the best public secondary school in the
South-South region of the country.
