Toyin Saraki, the wife of the embattled Senate President, Bukola Saraki, represented Aisha Buhari, the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari at the meeting of Organisation of African First Ladies Against HIV/AIDS (OAFLA) at the 70th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, New York City.
Aisha Buhari delivered the speech of the First Lady at the event, applauding the dedication and focus of the First Spouses on HIV AIDs in African nations, according to tweets from Mrs. Saraki
The trial of Saraki by the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, is seen as a Cold War between the presidency and the leadership of the Senate over Saraki’s emergence as the Senate President.
Mrs Toyin Saraki, wife of the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, was, recently, the guest of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over an alleged case of corruption. The visit was in connection with her alleged involvement in a multi-million Naira misappropriation of bank loan and laundering of funds from the Kwara State government while her husband served as the governor of the state.
Last week, Buhari urged Saraki to face the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) and the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) over a 13-count criminal charge preferred against him on account of alleged false declaration of assets, saying the courts have a duty to perform. Organisation of African First Ladies against HIV/AIDS was formed by African First Ladies in 2002 to combat HIV/AIDS and improve mother & child health in Africa.
