The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has described as shocking, the sudden conversion of the state governor, Adams Oshiomhole, to an anti-corruption apostle, describing the governor as corrupt and unfit to talk about anti-corruption.
The party took a swipe at comments attributed to the governor that a minister in the government of former President Goodluck Jonathan cornered the sum of $6 billion, pointing out that while Governor Oshiomhole has been using national platform to accuse PDP leaders of corrupt practices, "Edo State, under him, has been the home of corruption."
Edo state PDP chairman - Chief Orbih, while addressing pressmen in Benin disclose that since the current government of Adams Oshiomole came into power in 2008, Governor Adams Oshiomhole has received over N612b as allocation from the Federal Government. Over N400b to the state and N212b to the Local government councils and that Governor Adams has personally pocketed N42b of that sum under the guise of "urgent security challenges" a reference to the EDSG vouchers and cash log book he displayed to the party members and press men present.
"We, however, understand that all the noise he has been making is coming as a result of the realization of the potent force of the PDP in Edo State. He is doing this in an attempt to divert attention from the unprecedented primitive looting that is ongoing on in Edo State under his watch.
"If a man is talking about somebody cornering $6 billion without evidence, the same man should also be courageous enough to tell his people what he does with N500 million he signs out every month in the name of urgent security challenges especially as PDP have displayed vouchers and log books from his office.
Edo PDP Chairman Chief Dan Orbih declared his support for the prosecution of all corrupt government officials irrespective of their political leaning/divide.
