Tragedy struck yesterday as a fresh graduate of the Imo State University met his death as students poured him water in jubilation of final year completion.
According to source, what was supposed to be jubilation soon turned into a gathering of sorrow when the victim was running away from a number of students who pursued after him to pour dirty water on him, as it seems a normal tradition with fresh universities graduates in the country . In a n attempt to dodge the water from pouring on him, the young graduate fell into a soak-away pit and got drowned.
what seemed to have quicken his death, was reported to be the electrical contact from the transformer beside the pit, as earth-wires said to be buried underneath it.
Pouring of water has been banned in schools but some students still ignore this circular and carry on with their usual traditions.
