Many people' have died in a bomb blast in Central Park in Cross, Gombe State, a senior State Security Service (SSS) official has reported. According to the story the blast happened at about 9:30am today.
“They left the bomb inside one of the vehicles at the park,” said the SSS Official. “The blast went off at about 9:30am. Up till now we don’t know the number of people, but it’s a very busy park so many people will have died in such a bomb blast.”
Nigerian army officials, the police (with the commissioner present) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) arrived and cordoned off the scene and began the rescue operations.
A NEMA official speaking with TheCable noted that more than 30 people have been found dead, as at the first count. He expects the toll to rise.
