If you are familiar with the Nigerian grammarian
Patrick Obahigbon, you would have noticed that aside his penchant poise towards
the use of high class language, the grammarian also has a the confidence and
carriage that can intimidate anybody and is therefore
unbending.
With his class and learning one would have expected
that this grammarian gentle-man could sway anyone with his grammar to achieve whatever
he wanted. but unfortunately this is not the case, as in the world of Nigerian politics
nonoby is really too educated or too big to bend to his knees when the time comes, everybody must
stoop to conquer, as it often always about self rather than society.
Just a few weeks ago, a picture of hon. Samson
Osagie appeared online on with him on his knees begging for votes after haven served as Hon
members of the Federal House of Representtives for two consecutive terms. The
popular view from puclic opinion was that it was an aberration and absolute embarrassment for a man of his standing to have been seen
begging for votes in that manner.
This week, the great Patrick Obahigbon
with his class and poise has again been humbled by politics, as the tall light in complexion very cocky grammarian has been made to bend on knees before ordinary
citizens he probably would not allow access to his office on a normal day.
After 8years
in Edo state house of Assemble, 4years in House of Rep another 3years in Oshiomole’s
government as thief(Chief) of staff, what could he possibly be begging for ?
Does the appellation Honourable really mean nothing
around this part of the world?
Why does a man who has worked and has something to show for his tenure in office, need to go on his knees
to prove to his people he deserves another chance?
Looking at this picture, you would notice, him being
on his knees here is not a sign or respect to the elders as some would claim, as it is evidently clear here that most of those seated
before him, actually look younger than he does.
So for the people of Oredo, in the constituency where
this grammarian hails, it is their votes in exchange for cans of malt.
To borrow his words, "this
is an unjustifiable higi-hagas and maniacal crincum-crancums which have
manufactured a state of anomie that endangers the autochthonous proliferation
of malfeasance within the geometrical coordinates of our cataclysmic Naija
space!"
What a pity.
