Rivers state last yesteday recorded it’s first casualty of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease as a doctor who treated a primary contact of the Liberian-American, Patrick Sawyer died of the virus.
Thereby increasing the number of death as a result of the virus in the country to six. Though the doctor’s case was not managed by the government team as his case was only made known to the team after his death.
The ECOWAS staff who had since returned to Lagos has been brought under surveillance.
Presently, 70 people have been placed under surveillance in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers state. The result of the test conducted on the wife is been expected later today.
In all 217 people are still under observation in the country, 141 in Lagos, 70 in Rivers and 6 in Enugu.
