APC LG chairmanship aspirant remanded in prison over assault, traffic offence in Ekiti

39-year-old mother of three and local government chairmanship aspirant under APC in Ekiti State, Mrs Abimbola Adeniyi, was yesterday remanded in prison for an alleged offence committed on Friday, October 6.

It was gathered that Abimbola who was arraigned by police prosecutor, Inspector Caleb Leramo, before Chief Magistrate Richard Adegboye alongside a 23-year old mechanic operating in Ado Ekiti, Tope Ogidiolu, committed a traffic offence, assaulted a police officer and a staff of the Ekiti State Traffic Management Agency who were performing their lawful duty

Though she pleaded not guilty, however Magistrate Adegboye eventually ordered that the accused persons to be remanded in prison custody till October 13, 2017 even after her Lawyer, Mrs Taiwo Ajibulu, argued that issues of traffic offence was bailable and that it will be a breach of the rights of her clients to be deprived of bail, on account of flimsy excuse that she could jump bail.
