Michael Okpara University Of Agric, Umudike , Sacks 460 Staff

The management of Michael Okpara University of Agric, Umudike, Abia State, led by Prof Francis Otunta, has  issued sack letters to 460 staff of the school who were employed by the immediate past Vice-Chancellor, Prof Hillary Odoh Edeoga.

According to reports, Prof Edeoga left office on February 29, 2016, believing that his successor, Prof Otunta, would regularize those new staff but as it stands now, that hope has been dashed as Prof Otunta only succeded in showing them the way out.

This has created palpable tension and sadness in the university as most staff lost either a friend or a relation to the infamous decision.

The affected staff were asked, through a letter dated June 28, 2017 and signed by the Registrar, to hand in all the school properties in their possession to their respective unit heads. Majority of the affected staff were issued letters to that effect on July 4, 2017.
