"Amnesty for Treasury Looters, Immoral and Corrupt" Balarabe Musa Blasts Lawmakers

Ex-Kaduna State governor Alhaji Balarabe Musa, is not happy that the Nigerian house of representatives are considering a bill which will give amnesty for treasury looters in the country.

“Honestly, I am terribly disappointed that a bill like that is being discussed at the National Assembly", he rips into the lawmakers.

“The bill is immoral and it shows the level of moral degeneration the country has attained especially at the leadership level.

“The proposal to me, is a way of legitimising corruption because you are telling people to loot and declare may be part of the loot, then you are set free.

“This is not good for Nigeria, for development and for the fight against corruption,” he said.

Hon. Linus Okorie (PDP Ebonyi) sponsored the bill. It was read for the first time at the House on June 14. According to the bill, those who looted public treasury can return a certain percentage of the money and go free without being prosecuted.

He called on the lawmakers to drop the bill as it hurt the collective interest of Nigerians.
