OBA OF BENIN TASKS EFCC, TASK FORCE TO BE DILIGENT IN THEIR DUTIES

The Benin Monarch, Oba Ewuare II has advised the Benin Zonal head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC to always investigate matters brought before the commission thoroughly before clamping down on anyone.

The Oba of Benin who gave the advice when he received the Benin Zonal head of EFCC Mailafia Yakubu in his Palace also warned against the use of EFCC as an agent of intimidation and witch hunting.
Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, Oba of Benin harped on the need for EFCC officials not to be partisan or allow anyone to use them to carry out vendetta against any person, pointing out that EFCC was established to help check corrupt practices among the people in public and private lives.

Oba Ewuare II told the head of EFCC Benin Zonal office that people want to see corrupt Nigerians prosecuted and convicted to serve as deterrent to others, adding that if EFCC is able to correct the bad practice, it would be better for the country and her people socially, economically and politically.

The head of Benin Zonal office of EFCC Mailafia Yakubu said they were in the Palace to introduce their team and inform the Benin Monarch about the opening of a Zonal office in Benin City with the view of commencing operations in the Zone comprising Edo, Delta, Anambra and Ondo States.

While acknowledging the power, strength and influence of the Oba of Benin, Mr. Yakubu requested for royal blessing to enable them succeed in their duties.

BENIN MONARCH CHARGES ARASE’S TASK FORCE TO BE DILIGENT IN THEIR DUTIES

Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, Oba of Benin has charged the chairman and members of the State Task Force on the enforcement of private property law otherwise known as anti CDA to be diligent and upright in the discharge of their duties.

Oba Ewuare II gave the charge when the Chairman of the task force retired Inspector General of Police Dr. Solomon Arase led other members of the committee on a courtesy visit to the Benin Monarch in his Palace.

The Benin Monarch expressed hope that they would succeed, as every member of the task force were carefully selected based on their past records and antecedents.

The Oba of Benin thanked them for accepting to serve which he said was borne out of respect and love for their people, and urged them to do everything possible to bring back the lost glories of Benin Kingdom in particular and Edo State in general.

His Royal Majesty said though the task before members of the task force is a herculean one, the Palace will continue to pray for them to be able to surmount any temptation or challenges.

The Benin Monarch used the opportunity to thank Governor Godwin Obaseki for inaugurating the task force which will get rid of the bad things perpetrated by CDA members.

The chairman of the task force and retired Inspector General of Police, Dr. Solomon Arase said they were in the Palace to seek royal blessings and inform the Benin Monarch about their modus operandi.

Dr. Arase said nobody irrespective of status in the society would be allowed to violate the law, pointing out that they would adopt community partnership strategy in dealing with the situation.

The Interpol suggested the rehabilitation, re-orientation and provision of jobs and soft loans to the outlawed CDA members, while others should be engaged in neighbourhood watch and skills acquisition.

Dr. Arase told the Royal Father that the law enforcement agents and the judiciary have vital roles to play, assuring that the law would be enforced to the latter in the state.
