Edo By-elections: Oshiomole's Son Withdraws from House of Reps Race

AHEAD of the January 28, 2017 date announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the conduct of the by-election for Etsako federal constituency of Edo State, eldest son of the immediate past governor of Edo State, Dr Cyril Oshiomhole, yesterday suspended his ambition for the vacant seat and backed the aspiration of Mr Johnson Oghuma as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

According to our source, Oshiomhole Jr cited  pressure from his father, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and the leadership of the party in Edo North, for the suspension of his ambition since the party had zoned the position to Etsako Central while he is from Etsako West.

Oshiomhole Jr, shocked many Edolites when posters indicating his interest to run for the exhaled office suddenly surfaced in public. Many people questioned his political experience and the rational behind him replacing the former House Member  now deputy governor of Edo state Hon. Philip Shaibu, since his father just left office as the governor of the state after serving for 8 years.
