Following the recent clamor for
his step down and peaceful hand over to Adama Barrow who won the last
general election in Gambia, has stepped up his arbitrary arrest and
disappearance of Gambians.
The drowning Gambian President that is billed
to step down tomorrow has taken the fight to the West AFrican Youths.
According to Changed Nigeria News, one of
the youth whose house was searched yesterday by armed soldiers loyal to
Yahya Jammeh said Soldiers have been going round the town rounding up
military officers and civil society members who show any sign of dissent
to Yahya Jammeh.
Source says, at about 3 pm
Gambian time yesterday, Yahya Jammeh's armed soldiers matched to their
family house with intent to rounding the up the whole family but
fortunately they were all not at home as at the time the soldiers came
calling, this is because relatives and friends had tipped them off. The
youth who like most Gambian youths are members of West Africa Premier
youth body known as ECOWAS Youth Council has experienced series of
threats and harassment.
Such acts of arbitrary arrest and disappearances seems to
have been the order of the day as the Gambian strong man seems getting
more desperate by the day.
Meanwhile, another source has revealed that the Gambian president who is doing everything possible to remain in power, amidst the storm, has moved his family out of the country to a safe place.
This is to make sure nothing happens to his wife and children in case a war breaks out between the West African forces and his military, in a bid to force him out and install Adama Barrow as President, following his victory in the last election.
Also, fresh reports yesterday indicates that President Jammeh has secured approval of parliament to remain in office for another 3 months, pending when his case will come up in court. [see here]
But Jammeh is still scared, he has prepared his presidential jet to escape in case there is war.
