Roy Hodgson Resigns as England Coach After Defeat by Iceland

Roy Hodgson has resigned as England Coach after his side were embarrassingly knocked out of Euro 2016 by Iceland.

Iceland were among the lowest-ranked teams in the competition, sitting at 34 in the world. The side came from behind to beat England 2-1 after Rooney scored from the spot in the 4th minute.

"I'm sorry it will have to end this way but these things happen," Hodgson said after the match.

"I hope you will still be able to see an England team in a final of a major tournament soon," he said.

"Now is the time for someone else to oversee the progress of a hungry and extremely talented group of players. They have done fantastically, and done everything asked of them," he added.
