More Confusion in PDP as Court sacks Sheriff as PDP chairman

Ali-Modu-Sheriff
An  High Court sitting in Abuja, today sacked Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

In a judgement delivered by Justice Valentine Ashii, the 2014 PDP Constitution Amendment upon which Sheriff was appointed PDP Chairman was nullified

The Court described the amendment as illegal and a violation of the Electoral Act and declared all action carried out with it including anybody parading as officer of the PDP as illegal.

According to our source, the case which was today decided upon, was instituted by Sherriff himself at Abuja.

The amendment had purportedly zoned the office of the party chairman to the North-East zone. Former chairman, Adamu Muazu from the northeast resigned in 2015 following the party’s loss at the presidential election.

Sheriff, a former governor of Borno state, located in the North-East was appointed PDP national chairman in the interim by the party’s stakeholders after former deputy national chairman, Chief Uche Secondus from the South-East was removed from the position of acting chairman based on the zoning arrangement.

A convention to formally seal his position in May 2016 resulted in controversy after Sheriff purportedly cancelled the convention but Alhaji Ahmed Makarfi was announced chairman of a caretaker committee formed at the end of the convention.

. Meanwhile, the embattled chairman of the party is currently holding a second PDP primaries at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium right now as we speak.

  1. Nice to know that Sherif himself went to the court. But why there always be issues with Nigerian politicians? They not in peace how then do we live in peace since all our hope lies with them? We need to go back to God and repent so he can take charge of our affairs.
We are waiting to know who the new PDP Chairman.
