Lai Mohammed Says Masquerades can provide 1,000 Jobs for Nigerians

Lai Mohammed, Nigeria's minister of information and culture, on Monday disclosed that masquerades could be 1,000 jobs per week for Nigerian men.

According to THE CABLE, peaking at the sectoral debate of the federal house of representative in Abuja on Tuesday, Mohammed said “Most states today have more than one festival a year, but the packaging and lack of capacity has not enabled them to make the most out of these festivals''.

“There’s a particular masquerade in the south east, it takes 100 people to dress him, another 100 people to undress him.

“If this masquerade is well-packaged, it can provide employment in one week for more than 1000 young men. These are some of the untapped potentials.”

Just imagine what a supposed minister of information is saying! Naija we are in problems

  2. there is nothing wrong with what he has said, its within his capacity as minster of information and culture.so before you start laughing and making rubbish of the statement ,you need understand the context of the speech.he his simply saying there are untapped potentials in tourism in some states that they are not tapping, which can create jobs and income for the unemployed youths, state and country at large ..so i Mr Celestian Simon, you need get a brain to read and understand before you make comments ..

  3. Joey please go and join the masquerade since what he said is right. And I don't think insulting anyone here is good. Make your polite comment and let others opinion be.
The way you view things is totally different from how I will view mine but that doesn't mean I should insult you if your view doesn't fit yours or if I don't like it.
    One love to you all.

  4. Oga Lai you may have a point but the truth is I don't like your view to potentials. Ask those men in that masquerade they will tell you what they think.

  5. Mr joey! They said like minds think alike,I strongly believe that you will talk and do same if given that type of portfolio. But its a shame on guys like you,you know why? Because you don't reason straight. Let me tell you that as a minister and as a person, there are words that better not said!so I think both you as well as the minister need to buy yourselves some brains....and from the way you actually sounded, you will be worst of!.my candid advice is for you to think straight, and try to allow something's to permeate into your empty skull dude.
