Why Buhari Doesn't Want to Sign 2016 Budget Into Law - Fayose

Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, in an interview published by The Sun, has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari can't sign the 2016 budget into law at the moment simply because he is buying some time.

"Nigeria’s budget has not been signed because the President is not sure of the source of funding. They are going to China to beg for that money because 25 per cent of that money is for debt servicing. They are to borrow 50 per cent for the budget to fly. So, it is buying time for the president to say that I am waiting for details of the budget from the National Assembly.

"They are now going for eight days to solicit for funds because they are cash strapped. You have a budget of N6.06 trillion; you want to borrow N3.6 trillion. If you borrow that amount in 2016, how much will you borrow in 2017? There is a problem. Most people that took Buhari there can no longer say this to the public anymore. That was why Tinubu had to write for the records," he said.

  1. Well I am not saying he is lying but I heard from a reliable source that the NA (National Assembly) changed many figures from the estimated amount allocated to some projects. We will know the truth in due time.

  3. If the President knows that there is no fund why not tell Nigerians that to be buying unnecessary time, because as far as am concern it is of no consequences lying...
