BokoHaram Ambush Cameroon Again

   

Boko Haram terrorists have stormed several villages in northern Cameroon and shooting.

Local newspaper, L’Oeil du Sahel, said shootings were heard in the locality of Bidao, some kilometres away from Blame in the district of Makary, the department of Logone and Chari, Cameroon’s far north region along the border with Borno State in Nigeria.

While the second attack took place in the village of Satomi, not far from Tolkomari in the Mayo-Sava department. Though the number of causalities were yet to be ascertain.

On Tuesday night, Abba Kolo, a vigilance member in the village of Mbriche, the district of Mora also in the Mayo-Sava department, was dragged out of his house and shot dead by Boko Haram.

And that murder only came hours after seven houses were set ablaze by Boko Haram and the residence of the community head was ransacked in the village of Yam Gazawa, less than 5 kilometres from Mozogo in the Mayo-Tsanaga department.

That makes it many attacks in at least three departments in Cameroon’s far north within two to three days.

These attacks are so many that it is becoming hard to keep pace with them. Boko Haram has stepped up attacks in Cameroon and many people have been massacred. Amnesty International said in recent reports that more than 400 civilians have been killed by Boko Haram between last November and last month. Many more have been murdered since then.

President Barack Obama deployed 90 troops to Cameroon about two weeks ago to help a regional force increasingly helpless to fight a ruthless group of terrorists who pledged allegiance to the Islamic State in March.

President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria and others who are all in India for the India-Africa summit have vowed to crush Boko Haram within months, but with the orgy of killings not near the end, many people in the Lake Chad Basin are becoming sceptical.
