Pilgrimage: People of Zamfara laments lack of governance.


The people of Zamfara State have expressed sadness over lack of governance created by the absence of the governor, his deputy, chief judge, speaker of the House of Assembly and other principal staff in the state who had all gone on a pilgrimage to Mecca.


Also out of the state to the holy land is the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, and permanent secretaries. Investigation by revealed that civil servants’ hopes of receiving their salaries to enable them prepare for the Muslim festival had been quashed by the absence of key government figures in the state. It was also discovered that although the new state executive council is yet to be formed, permanent secretaries who had been shouldering the responsibilities of running of the affairs of their ministries, have themselves joined the train of those in the holy land.

It was gathered that these and non-payment of workers’ salaries had ground businesses and other commercial activities in the state.
