Four Die, Two missing As Helicopter Crashes into Lagos Lagoon

Four people were reported dead as an helicopter crashed into the Lagos Lagoon in the early hours today Wednesday 12th. According to reports, Six persons were rescued alive and rushed to the Lagos State Teaching Hospital, Ikeja; while two other are said to be missing among the 12 occupants of the ill-fated helicopter.

The helicopter was said to be on its way from Ikeja, Lagos, before it suddenly crashed into the swamp behind the Oworonshoki Police Station. The identity of the ill-fated helicopter is yet to be revealed to the public


Policemen and residents from the area say a loud noise was heard from the helicopter as it flew over the area before it crashed into the lagoon.

Spokesman for Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye said the accident happened around 3.30 p.m. in the Oworonshoki area of the city.
