Newly sworn in governor of Kaduna State, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, apologised to his supporters on Sunday for not replying their mails or picking their calls during the campaign, saying that campaigning was much tougher than he thought and governing Kaduna may turn out to be even tougher.

In his “message of gratitude and appreciation” to friends and well wishers, El-Rufai said he was grateful for their contributions.

“I apologize for not being quite responsive to your messages via email, calls and other media. Campaigning was much tougher than I thought. Governing Kaduna may turn out to be even tougher. Please bear with me if I am unable to reply emails and other messages. We have 8 million Kaduna citizens to serve henceforth, and their collective needs must come first,” he said on his personal Facebook page.

He urged his supporters to pray for him, for President Muhammadu Buhari and other governors of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

“We need the guidance of Almighty God to escape the minefields the former government has prepared for all Nigerians,” he said.

He added: “Shout out loudly whenever we appear to be heading in the wrong direction. Through my aides, via phone and social media, I can always be reached however belatedly if I am incommunicado for extended periods!”
