Ex-Cameroon, Chelsea striker buys ‘cursed’ 40 rooms luxury villa for £18.5m

 

Samuel Eto’o  who is a one-time highest paid footballer in the world at Anzhi Makhachkala with nearly £20m salary a year, having played for some of the biggest teams in the world; Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Chelsea, Everton and presently, Sampdoria;  the Cameroonian player can easily afford the flamboyant lifestyle of most sportsmen.

The 33 year-old is reported to have paid a whopping £18.5m for the Italian cliff-top ''luxury coastal villa" near the fishing village of Portofino.

The villa is a spacious one with 40 rooms and a swimming pool, surrounded by 30,000 sqm of parkland.  Samuel Eto'o paid 18 million pounds for the mansion above, which was formerly owned by Lord Carnavon, the discoverer of Pharaoh's tomb.

                                  

The unfortunate part regarding this mansion is the history that it belonged to Lord Carnavon who uncovered Pharaoh’s tomb.

Shortly after uncovering the tomb, Lord Carnavon died from a mosquito bite and legend perpetuated the story that he died because he disturbed the Pharaoh’s tomb.

His nephew died months later after falling down the stairs of the Villa.

Another mysterious incident occurred at the Villa when in 2001, former Gucci model and heiress Countess Francesca Agusta, disappeared from the cliff-top house.

Despite the rumours surrounding the deaths in the Villa, Samuel Eto’o did not hesitate to spend the huge sum on the apartment.
