Military Officers Warn Osinbajo- Beware, Aso Rock Cabal Wants to Grab Power From You

Concerned military chiefs have sent a warning to Nigeria's Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to be wary of the Aso Rock cabal as they aim to grab power from him, Sahara Reporters say.

This is irrespective of the outcome of President Muhammadu Buhari's health, it's said.
"The officers had earlier drawn attention to moves by a coalition of forces around Senator Bukola Saraki and Abba Kyari, President Buhari’s Chief of Staff, to hijack power in the event that the ailing president’s failing health leads to a power tussle", Sahara Reporters say.

Former Deputy Governor of Osun State , Senator Iyiola Omisore has commiserated with the former governor of Osun state and the Interim National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress,(APC), Chief Abdulkareem Adebisi Akande, over the death of his wife, Late Mrs Omowumi Akande.
The former Deputy Governor to Chief Akande in a statement personally signed by him said the news of Mrs. Akande's death came to him as a rude shock.

I Will Not Pay Salaries Of Lecturers Who Sued My Gov't – Yahaya Bello

Executive governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello has said that lecturers that sued him before the court of law will be exempted from the payment of salaries and arrears in the state, Daily Nigerian report says

Bello, while appealing to members of the state university Academic Staff Union to call off their strike and resume work, promised to offset all their salaries and arrears.


He said the payment of salaries would cover those on contract and study leave, as well as those employed in 2015.

Anxiety As Osinbajo Set To Reshuffle Cabinet After Meeting With Buhari

Barely 24 hours after Nigeria's Vice (Acting) President Yemi Osinbajo met with his principal, Buhari in Britain, the turn of events according to reports will mean that Osinbajo is set to assert his full powers in running the affairs of government in the country in his principal's absence.

Osinbajo returned to the country yesterday after he met with President Buhari for one hour. Feelers told journalists in confidence that a cabinet reshuffle is imminent – a development which has stirred anxiety among members of the Federal Executive Council.


Nigerian Bulletin recall that two ministers – Stephen Ocheni (Kogi State ) and Suleiman Hassan ( Gombe State) who had been confirmed by the parliament are yet to be sworn-in due to the pending cabinet reshuffle.

Obaseki hails FG over establishment of NICT

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has commended the Federal Government for the foresight deployed in establishing the National Institute of Construction Technology (NICT), Uromi, identifying construction as one of the challenges facing the country.
This was on Thursday, at the Edo State Government House in Benin City, where the governor received members of the institute’s governing council and management, who paid him a courtesy visit.

President Trump Sued For Blocking People On Twitter

President Donald Trump has been party to an eye-watering 4,000 lawsuits over the last 30 years, US media say. And now the mogul turned commander-in-chief has attracted one more, after seven people sued him for blocking them on Twitter.

Mr Trump is an avid user of the social media forum, which he deploys to praise allies and lambast critics. The lawsuit was filed by the Knight First Amendment Institute, a free speech group at Columbia University.

The seven Twitter users involved claim their accounts were blocked by the president, or his aides,
after they replied to his tweets with mocking or critical comments.

Edo to set up task force against trafficking

Edo state Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Thursday, highlighted some of his administration’s measures to tackle human trafficking, revealing that a special task force led by the newly-sworn in Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the state, Professor Yinka Omoregbe, would be set up to address the social malaise.
He added that the DSS, the Nigerian Police, and other security agencies would work with the task force to baulk the scourge.

Edo to hold Town Hall Meeting on PPP Law


To generate conversation amongst stakeholders on the content, implementation and implications of the new Private Properties Protection (PPP) Law in Edo State, the Godwin Obaseki-led administration has organised a Town Hall meeting to be chaired by Chief Sam O. Ugbe, the Iyase of Benin.
The Chairman, Strategic Planning Unit of the Edo State Government, Professor Julius Ihonvbere, disclosed this in a statement, revealing also that the Town Hall meeting would take place by 7AM on Friday, July 13 at Imaguero College Hall in Benin City.

Obaseki urges opposition parties to unite for Edo

Governor Godwin Obaseki has issued a clarion call to opposition political parties in the State to join hands for building and developing Edo State, adding that his administration was ready to work with them to develop the state.
The governor, however, noted that they should not expect political appointments, as his administration was that of All Progressives Congress (APC), and he would respect the dictates of the party’s constitution.

Obaseki inaugurates committee to oversee PHC

Gov. Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, on Wednesday, inaugurated a committee on Primary Health Care (PHC) remodelling, tasking its members to facilitate the proper functioning of PHCs in the state.

This was at Edo State Government House in Benin City where Governor Obaseki noted that the current state of PHCs in the state was not ideal and the system needed to be overhauled.

While the governor stressed that the remodelling initiative was aimed at ensuring that at least one standardised PHC was established in each of the 18 Local Government Areas of the state, he added that it would also help reduce the burden on secondary and tertiary health centres, as well as the cost patients spent to access health services.

South African Jazz Musician Ray Phiri Dies

The SABC on this morning reported that South African jazz legend, Ray Phiri had died. The 70-year-old musician suffered from lung cancer and had recently been admitted to a hospital in Nelspruit.

In an interview with The Sowetan earlier this month Phiri asked for space and privacy during his sickbed. He told the newspaper: “Let me suffer [in peace with my] pain, on my own with my dignity.”

Phiri - a jazz, fusion and mbaqanga musician - was born on 23 March 1947 near Nelspruit ,
Mpumalanga. He was a founding member of the Cannibals in the 1970s. Later, the Cannibals would grow in size and rename themselves, becoming the hugely influential Afro-fusion band Stimela.

Phiri was scheduled to perform at Rocking the Daisies music festival later this year. May God rest his soul.

Acting president, Yemi Osinbajo, orders release of N1.6bn to 16 states affected by flood

Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, has directed the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, to immediately release N1.6 billion to 16 states recently ravaged by floods. Senior Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, announced this to state house correspondents after the Federal Executive Council meeting today. 

Adesina said the funds which would be drawn from the Federal Government’s Ecological Account in the CBN, is to help cushion the effects of the disaster on residents of the affected states.

Court Begins Trial on Man who Beat and threw Wife Off Two-Storey Building

A 35-year-old man, Uche Chukwuka, who allegedly battered his wife and threw her down a two-storey building, appeared before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Wednesday.

The accused, residing at No. 22 Railway Line in Idi-Oro, Mushin, Lagos, is standing trial on a two-count charge bordering on assault.

Chukwuka, however, pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the charges preferred against him. The Prosecutor, Inspector Godwin Oriabure, told court that the offence was committed on June 20 at about 7:30p.m.
at the residence of the accused.

WAEC Reveals Date For Release Of 2017 May/June Results

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) will release the May/June 2017 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results by next week Wednesday.

A federal judge has Jailed former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva of corruption and money laundering and sentenced him to nine and a half years in jail.

Silva will remain free while an appeal is heard.

12 Civilian JTF members, 7 mourners killed, 23 Injuried in deadly suicide attacks in Maiduguri - Police

The Borno State Police Command on Wednesday confirmed that 19 people were killed in the Tuesday deadly suicide bombing in Maiduguri. Briefing newsmen in. Maiduguri, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Damian Chukwu said the attacks, which occurred late on Tuesday, claimed the lives of 12 Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) members and seven mourners, who had gathered to symphathise with families of those killed in the earlier attacks. At least 23 others sustained injuries. 

The commissioner, who had since visited the scenes of the attacks, said that four female suicide bombers attacked Moloi, Judumeri and Polo-Sabongari areas of Maiduguri.

The Medical Director of the Brong Ahafo Region Hospital in Ghana, Dr. Jacob K. Abrebrese, has called the attention of women to warn them against the danger giving ‘Blowjobs’ to their partners.
According to him, uncircumcised penis carries bacteria, germs and viruses hence women who suck them are highly at risk.

He said also sucking uncircumcised penis is as equally dangerous as sucking the female genital.

Dr. Abrebrese made the medical revelation in an interview with Rainbow Radio, where he equally described oral sex as an unhealthy practice which should not be encouraged. He said oral sex is an indecent, uncivilized and an undisciplined act.

Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose is not buying the narrative that the President is strong and recuperating well as said by acting President, Osinbajo.

Fayose who spoke to journalists in Abuja promised to release 11 recent pictures of the president to justify his stand on Buhari’s state of health. In his words,

Anambra Police parades over 100 criminal suspects including armed robbers, cultists and child traffickers

Nigerian pastor bags 15 years in jail for raping two sisters in US

 Reuben Chizor, a US-based Nigerian pastor of Hope Restoration Ministries in Queens Village has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping two sisters in the basement of his church.

The victims were 12- and 14-year-old and were also members of his congregation in the church.


According to NY Daily News, the trial testimony revealed last month that on July 27, 2011, Chizor took the 14-year-old victim to the church basement, where he lived, and raped her. On Aug. 22, 2011, he raped the 12-year-old.
