4 Nigerian States Get New Police Commissioners

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has redeployed four Commissioners of Police to four different states for effective and efficient policing.

They are:
 
Johnson Kokumo, the Commissioner of Police, Armament, is now in charge of the Edo Command;
David Akinremi, the Commissioner of Police and Deputy Force Secretary, is now in charge of the Taraba Command.

NSCDC Uncovers 15 Illegal Refineries In Rivers

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Rivers State on Wednesday said it has uncovered three large illegal dumps, destroyed 15 illegal refineries, arrested trucks and arrested 93 suspected pipeline vandals and illegal bunkers.
According to the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mohammed Haruna, a filling station has also been sealed off as a fall out of efforts in fighting illegal dealings business in the state.

Messi Finally Agrees to Stay With Barcelona Till 2021

Argentina star, Lionel Messi has finally agreed a new deal that will keep him at Camp Nou until 2021, meaning he will turn 34 as his new contract reaches its end.

Messi’s previous deal was due to expire in 2018, with the three-year extension ensuring he is contracted at Camp Nou for at least the next four years.
Reports suggest the Argentine superstar will pocket £500,000 a week at the Nou Camp, reports express.co.uk.

Pakistani Man Sentenced to Death for Farting in Mosque [PHOTO]

A Pakistani judge has sentenced a man to be executed after he was expelled 17 times from 6 different mosques.

The man was sentenced for excessive farting during the period of the Ramadan reports the Islamabad Herald this week.

The Ramadan is the most important religious festival for Muslims and the judge declared that he had indisposed people of the faith and even caused 53 people at one time to leave the mosque during a prayer, a “blasphemous act” which should be punished “according to Allah’s will.”

32-year-old homosexual arrested for having sex with 4 underage boys



 
The Niger state Police Command, acting on a tip off, has arrested one Mustapha Abdullahi for having unlawful sexual intercourse with four young boys ages 12 to 15, through their anus. The suspect has since been charged to court.

Kwara Police Arrests 9 Secondary School Students for Holding Indian Hemp Festival [PHOTO]


The Kwara state police command has arrested nine suspects for allegedly holding Indian hemp festival in Ilorin, Kwara State.

According to Tribune Online, the arrested persons were of secondary school age.

It was gathered that the suspects had circulated posters informing members of the public about the event, just as calls by prominent citizens and organisations to call off the event were rebuffed.

INEC Replies Senate Over Move to Stop Melaye’s Recall

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has replied the Senate over its call for said that only a legitimate court order could stop the recall of Senator Dino Melaye as demanded by his Kogi West constituents.
 
The Senate had on Tuesday described the recall moves of Melaye as an exercise in futility that would become a waste of time and resources of the state.

FG Set to Publish Names of Treasury Looters in Nigeria

The federal government has agreed to publish the names of people it recovered funds belonging to the government from.

Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, said this after the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.
 
This is after a court of law compelled the government to reveal the identity of the looters following a Freedom of Information suit filed by Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP)

NDLEA secures conviction of 240 Illicit drug users

The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), say it has secured the conviction of 240 suspected drug users in Kano State in the last six months. Mr. Hamza Umar, the Commandant of the agency told newsmen in Kano on Tuesday in commemoration of UN International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

He said the UN day, with the theme “Listen First’’, was marked globally on June 29.

According to him, 768 suspects were arrested out of which 505 of them were counselled and 68 rehabilitated during the period.

Obasanjo calls for end to bloodshed in Nigeria, Wants Some Soldiers Removed

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has called for the removal of soldiers backed by political office holders. 
 
 The former president said this would prevent occurrence of another civil war - He noted that some of the country's best soldiers have died due to political interference.
 
The former president gave this advice at a public presentation of the book written by Haruna Yahaya and titled, “The First Regular Combatant: Brigadier General Zakariya Maimalari,” in Abuja on Tuesday, July 4.

South African journalist sacked for calling President Zuma a 'zombie'


A popular South African radio presented has been fired by the Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), for calling President Jacob Zuma a "zombie" in a Facebook post, the privately owned News 24 site has reported. 

According to SABC spokesman, Kaizer Kganyago, he said OAP Ravi Govender's contract was terminated because of concerns that he had brought the public broadcaster into disrepute.

Nigerian Youths give Buhari 8-week ultimatum to resign

A group, the Nigerian Youth Advocate for Justice has given President Muhammadu Buhari an eight-week ultimatum to either resign or form an interim government following his absence from the country for more than 53 days.

The group warned that if the president fails to comply with the ultimatum, it would lead seven million youths in 22 states to force him out of office, Guardian reports.

Ugandan Govt bans female public servants from showing cleavage in the office

The Ugandan government through the Ministry of Public Service has banned public servants from dressing indecently to the office. 

In a circular tweeted by privately owned Observer newspaper, it says women are not allowed to show their cleavage nor wear dresses or skirts that are above the knees. Sleeveless blouses or any clothing made out of see-through material are equally not permitted.

Women's pant-suits are allowed, but female public servants will not wear any tight-fitting clothing. Flat, open shoes are also ruled out, except in cases where one can prove that it is for medical reasons.

Sad: Husband 'shoots wife in the head, killing her, during a drunken fight in an Uber Cab'

A husband has been accused of shooting his wife in the head during a drunken argument in an Uber.

Cameron Espitia, 31, is being held on suspicion of killing wife Jennifer, 29, as they were taken home in Seattle in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Espitia, a former member of the Coast Guard, was arrested close to the scene, claiming he could not remember anything after getting into the car.

Father Of 3 Bags 3 Years In Prison For $3650 Online Romance Scam

 Okechukwu Brown, a father of three, was on Monday in Lagos sentenced to three years imprisonment for defrauding an American of 3,650 dollars in an online romance scam.

Justice Josephine Oyefeso of an Ikeja High Court handed down the verdict after Brown pleaded guilty to the charge.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Brown was sentenced after entering into a plea bargain with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

EFCC arraigns Four for $500,000 Fraud

The EFCC Tuesday arraigned four staff of First Marina Trust Limited before Justice J. E. Oyefeso of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing to the tune of USD $500,000.00 (Five Hundred Thousand United State Dollars).

 

The accused are Adeyemi Oluwaseun, Suleiman Yusuf, Yusuf Imran Adekunle and Haruna ssah-allegedly connived to defraud their employers of the sum of money.
