Edo police arrests Pastor, his sister for allegedly trafficking young girls to Russia



The Edo State Police command have arrested one Pastor Endurance Ehioze and his sister for allegedly trafficking young girls to Russia.

Confirming their arrest to Vanguard, the commissioner of police in the state, Haliru Gwandu, said they were arrested after an NGO who got wind of their illicit activities, reported them to the police. Narrating her experience in the hands of the pastor and his sister, one of the victims, 24 year old Miss Florence Abu, said;

Former President Of European Parliament 'Simone Veil' Dies at 89

Simone Veil, former European Parliament President is dead.
Veil, a Jewish survivor of the Holocaust, was a strong advocate for European unity and became the first directly elected president of the European Parliament in 1979. She played a very important role in the legalising abortion in France during the 1970s.

She was 89 years old at the time of her death.

Police Declare Nigerian Man Wanted In Malaysia For The Death Of A 5 Year Old Boy [photos]


The police are looking for a 31-year-old Nigerian man identified as Ebiziem Ifeanyi Stephen to assist in investigations into the death of a five-year-old boy last Thursday, June 22.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Ruslan Khalid said that the police brought in the deceased's mother, Nurfathiehah Ahmad Rokmar, 28, on June 23.


"She was picked up by the police in Bayan Baru, Penang and will be remanded until June 30," he said in a press conference at the district police headquarters today, Thursday, June 29, adding that they may seek an extension.

Man Files Lawsuit To Compel Senate To Ascertain Buhari’s Health Status

 A Nigerian man who goes by the name Toyin Dawodu, has filed a lawsuit to compel the Senate of Nigeria to constitute a medical panel to determine if President Muhammadu Buhari can discharge his constitutional duties. .

In a statement dated June 28, he said he instructed his attorneys from Forthright Chambers and lawyers for Citizens Advocacy of Nigeria to file the action [FHC/ABJ/CS/508/2017] at the Federal High Court in Abuja a few weeks ago. .

Citing reports that Nigeria is being controlled by a group of unelected bureaucrats, and that Mr. Buhari is in such incapacitation that even his wife is not allowed to see him, Mr. Dawodu said it was possible that President Buhari is being held by his handlers against his will, and that Nigerians deserve to know his current status and whereabouts. .

The Office of the Governor of Edo State has in the past few days been inundated with various public comments, criticisms and (in some cases) opportunistic posturing by the political opposition party regarding a “Grazing Bill” currently said to be under consideration by the Honourable Members of the Edo State House of Assembly.

The Government would wish to make the following facts clear to concerned members of the public:
 
(i) The Government has absolutely no knowledge of or participation in the said bill particularly as same is certainly not an Executive Bill and did not emanate from Government House;

No plan to establish grazing agency says Edo speaker

The Speaker of Edo House of Assembly, Justin Okonoboh has said the house has not taken decision on a bill to establish grazing agency in the state.

It would be recalled that the bill for a law to establish Edo State Control of Nomadic cattle rearing and Grazing Agency had passed through second reading on the floor of the house.
 
Okonoboh told newsmen in Benin that the private member bill which has sparked off controversy in the state was yet to be brought before the house for deliberation.

Motorists begs FG to repair decaying Benin-Auchi highway

Motorists plying the Benin/Auchi Highway have appealed to the Federal Government to urgently repair the road which is gradually inflicting suffering on road users.

The motorists noted that driving within the Ehor/Ekpoma section had become terrible following the start of the rainy season and has increased the travel-time from Benin to Auchi that usually lasted between two hours and two hours and thirty minutes to four hours.
They noted that the inside Ekpoma main town serving as an alternative route is fairly better than the highway but also in a deplorable condition and needs attention.

NSCDC uncover illegal refineries, arrest 2 in Edo

The Edo State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps has arrested two suspects over uncovered illegal refineries in Obazagbon Community, Ikpoba-Okha Local government area of Edo state.

Briefing newmen in Benin City, the state commandant NSCDC, Makinde Isikil Ayinla reassured the public of its resolve to put a stop to all forms of oil bunkery by vandals in the state.
Ayinla said the activities of oil thief in the country affect the country’s economies pointing out that this necessitated the move by the corps to go after those who indulge in vandalism of oil pipelines, oil theft and illegal refineries in the state.

A Florida woman has been killed hours after posting on facebook that she now earns a six-figures income. The woman proudly recalled on Facebook how she went from being homeless to “making six figures” just hours before she was shot to death early Thursday.

Makeva Jenkins was fatally shot at her home in upscale Lake Worth after writing on social media that “I’m in awe of how far I’ve come.”
Jenkins, who was 33, wrote in the post late Wednesday night that “we overcame being homeless in 2013/2014 to reaching my six figure mark in 2015 to now making multi six figures.

Ogun college Finally suspends lecturer Accused of impregnating nursing student

The Ogun State College of Health Technology, Ilese Ijebu, has finally suspended the lecturer who was accused of impregnating a nursing student. [read story here] Dr Seyi Adu, who works with the school has been indefinitely suspended by the college.
It was gathered that Seyi’s suspension for allegedly having sex in a hotel sometime in August 2016 with a nursing student of the school, Mosunmola, was posted on a notice board at the administration block of the college, where the academic community was asked not to have any dealings with him.

2017 Budget: Reps Ask Fashola To Explain N20bn Miscellaneous Expenses

Exasperated by rebuttals from Babatunde Fashola, Minister of Power, Works and Housing, over National Assembly’s responses to his recent outburst over alleged unnecessary insertions into the 2017 Appropriation Act, Abdulrazaq Namdas, spokesman of the House of Representatives, on Thursday said Fashola should be bold and sincere enough to tell Nigerians why his ministry inserted N20 billion for miscellaneous expenditure while the second Niger Bridge had N12 billion estimate.


Namdas, who chairs the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, told journalists in a chat that “17 years after the practice of democracy, the three arms of government ought to have graduated from this level of altercations as Sections 4, 59, 80 and 81 of the 1999 constitution as amended clearly spells out the functions of the legislature.”

"You Can’t Force Islamic Studies On Our Children" - PFN, Bishop Oyedepo Warn

Arising from an emergency meeting in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria on Thursday, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, and the General Overseer, Living Faith, Bishop David Oyedepo have warned the Federal and State Governments against attempt to force Christian students in secondary schools to offer Islamic Studies.

Speaking while addressing newsmen at the PFN Headquarters in Isolo, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, Oyedepo said government had no right to force subjects on anybody, saying that by stopping Christian Religion Studies, CRS, at the Senior Secondary School level, it automatically meant that it would not be embraced at the tertiary institutions.

65-year-old man caught having sex with a dog [photos]




Sattahip police, Thailand were called to a deserted house after the owner of a seven year old Thai dog reported that a man had raped her pet. The dog owner Bang-orn Phumkaew called the cops after catching the 65 year old man completely naked with "Jao Jut", a Thai breed of dog.

The culprit "Chen" was caught having intercourse with the dog, on Wednesday, June 28.

EFCC traces N603 million to the wife of a civil servant

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has traced the sum of N603 million to the wife of Mr Josiah Habu, who is the Director of the Bioresources Development Centre in Bayelsa State.

Investigations carried out by EFCC showed that Esther was given suspicious contracts by over 20 directors of BIODEC across the country.
 
A statement by the EFCC spokesman, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, stated that about N70m was traced to Esther's husband. Director-General of NABDA, Prof Lucy Ogbadu, who oversees all BIODEC branches across the country was also arrested by the anti-graft agency.

Kidnappers Kill Ex-Governor Jang's Aide, Abduct 2 Others

Elder Sunny Iyere, former Special Assistant to former Plateau Governor Jonah Jang has been murdered by kidnapers along Abuja-Kafanchan highway, while two others on transit with him were kidnapped and held hostage for three days.

According to Nigerian Tribune,

Iyere was traveling from Abuja to Jos on Tuesday in his Toyota Land Cruiser with other occupants when the vehicle was waylaid by the Kidnappers numbering about eight at Kafanchan forest in Kaduna State.

Obaseki did not draft Anti-Grazing Bill, says Mayaki


Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state has denied having a hand in the Anti-Grazing Bill, which has passed its second reading, at the Edo House of Assembly, noting that the government’s position on the bill would be made known at the public hearing.


This was according to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr John Mayaki, who also explained that comments from the opposition party, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), were severely misguided and stemmed from lack of proper investigation.

Rivers Tribunal Sacks PDP Senator, Sekibo, Declares APC Winner

The Rivers State elections petition tribunal has sacked George Thompson Sekibo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator representing Rivers east.

The tribunal has declared Andrew Uchendu, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the winner of the senatorial election.

It also directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the certificate of return issued to Sekibo and issue a fresh certificate of return to Uchendu.


The tribunal’s decision was hinged on the fact that Uchendu won the lawful majority vote cast during the Rivers Re-run legislative election.

Niger-Delta Militants Withdraw Threat To Attack Oil Pipelines

A newly-formed Nigerian militant group has withdrawn a threat to attack oil pipelines in the country’s oil-rich Niger Delta after a spate of incidents in 2016 plunged the country into recession.
 
On Wednesday, the group withdrew the threat and said it had “shelved our planned attack on major oil facilities” in order to make room for ongoing negotiations between the Nigerian government and regional leaders in the Delta to bear fruit.

“We have decided to give peace a chance,” said the New Delta Avengers, in a statement reported by AFP.

Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore, reacts to Ilorin court judgment asking him to pay N4bn in damages to Saraki


An Ilorin High Court in Kwara state yesterday ordered Sahara Reporters and its publisher, Omoyele Sowore, to pay N4 billion in damages to Senate President Bukola Saraki, over some reports published about him on the news portal from September 2015 to December 2015. Saraki told the court that the reports were libelous. Omoyele has reacted via his Facebook page.
