Buhari On Life Support In London Hospital – Fayose

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, ‎on Wednesday claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari is suffering from voice impairment and has been on life support in a West-End London Hospital since June 6.

He also dismissed a purported audio message of the president greeting people for the just celebrated Eid-el-Fitri in Hausa language as “absolute lies.”


“No doubt, the audio message was only a damage-control strategy aimed at further deceiving Nigerians,” he said.

Former Taraba state governor, Dambaba Suntai, dies at 54

Former Taraba state governor, Dambaba Suntai, has died. According to Sahara Reporters, he died at his home where he had been undergoing rehabilitation for brain injuries arising from the plane crash he was involved in in 2012.
                           
A former commissioner of information in the state, Emmanuel Bello has confirmed news of his demise. The former governor who would have turned 55 on June 30th, was governor of the state from 2007 to 2015. He survived by wives and children.

Edo State House Of Assembly Confirms Obaseki’s Commissioner Nominees

The Edo State House of Assembly has confirmed 18 nominees ‎sent to it by Governor Godwin Obaseki as commissioners on Wednesday, June 28, 2017. [see here]

The nominees were cleared ‎eight days after the list was read during plenary on June 20, 2017.

In a letter dated June 19 and addressed to the Speaker, Dr. Justin Okonoboh, the governor had urged the House to facilitate the confirmation of the nominees.
In his reply, the Speaker also had promised that the House would not delay in the screening and confirmation of the nominees.

Edo Govt aids family of late Council pensioner

Concerned about the welfare of the family of a late Oredo Local Government Area pensioner, whose body, it was reported, had been left in the mortuary for over 454 days, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has promised to offset the bills and empower the Oboite family to enable them bury their late father and start a business.
This was according to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. John Mayaki, who also clarified that the Governor did not order the employment of 4,200 people into the state Civil Service but public works program.

The former Presidential aide faulted the IPOB leader over his alleged statement on the competency of former President Goodluck Jonathan. Omokri also insisted that Nnamdi Kanu was wrong to have labeled former President Goodluck Jonathan as weak According to him, Nnamdi Kanu must learn what leadership entails. He said: "In my widely published article advising Ndi'Igbo, I said the Igbo often mistake discretion for weakness.

In what is regarded as the largest ever gathering in the history of Sierra Leone, renowned Evangelist and Preacher, Apostle Johnson Suleman of Omega Fire Ministry Int'l, gathered over 60,000 persons inside the Sierra Leone National stadium, Freetown.

The stadium which has a seating capacity of about 45,000 had to be locked at some point to prevent others from entering in a bid not to overstretch the facilities of the stadium.

COALITION SEEKS BETTER STATUS FOR VULNERABLE CHILDREN IN NIGERIA

The coalition of orphanages and children’s home in Nigeria (COCHIN) says the work of looking after orphans and vulnerable children cannot be handled by one association, caregiver or coalition alone.

President of the coalition Eze Ajoku while formally inaugurating the coalition in Abuja, said caregivers face a lot of difficulty in taking care of orphans and called on the leaders and privileged few to help in ensuring orphans and vulnerable children are given proper recognition as part and members of the society. 

“By the theme of today’s event, proprietors of orphanages and children homes are crying out to you: fellow Nigerians, Like a drop…… it counts. You may choose to donate or make a pledge to us today. Whilst COHIN ensures that its members carry out its mandates, we appeal to the public to come to our aid.” Ajoku said.

"We Won’t Allow Kanu, IPOB Create Another Problem For Future Nigerians"- Adeyanju

Former Director of New Media of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Convener, Concerned Nigerians, Prince Deji Adeyanju has taken a swipe at the Supreme Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu saying he does not have an iota of respect for the IPOB leader and that he would not allow Mr. Kanu to create another problems for the future Nigerian children just like former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, Ex-Head of state, General Yakubu Gowon and the Ex-late Biafran leader, Gen. In a series of tweets, Mr. Adeyanju also said that he won’t continue to watch Kanu and his Biafran supporters insult other tribes and their religion but will speak up to condemn any such insult even those targeted at the Igbos.

Spain Deports 23 Nigerians For Committing Various Offences

The Spanish Government on Tuesday deported 23 Nigerians for committing various offences in the country.

They were deported barely five days after 34 Nigerians were sent home from six European countries for committing immigration-related offences.


Recall that, thirty-four Nigerians were jointly deported by six European countries on June 22 for committing immigration-related offences. The deportees were sent back home from Switzerland,
Germany, Iceland, Austria, Belgium and Hungary.

South Sudan deports three American journalists

The South Sudan government has deported Three American journalists intercepted at the Nadapal border in Namurunyang State, alleging that the journalists have visa issues. Foreign Affairs ministry spokesman, Mr. Makol Mawien said the deportation happened last Friday, but did not give their names or the organisations they work for.

Mawien further explained that the foreign journalists crossed the border through Lokichoggio in Kenya, without acquiring a visa at the South Sudan embassy in Nairobi.

38 Nigerian Universities Increase tuition fees due to Poor funding by Federal/State Govt - ASUU

No fewer than 38 universities across the country have increased their tuition fees as a result of poor funding by the Federal and State governments. 

The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Ibadan Chapter, Dr. Deji Omole, made this known in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Monday.

The statement which assessed the two years of President Muhammadu Buhari in office, lamented that the current government had made Nigerians poorer.

Omole said that the public education was not taken seriously because most children of the rich and those in high offices do not attend school in Nigeria.

Shocking: Man abduct Boy, trade him For 3 Bags of Rice in Lagos

Detectives are on the trail of a yet to be identified middle-aged man for allegedly depositing a 10-year-old boy whom he abducted in exchange for three bags of rice worth N48,000.

The suspect allegedly abducted the boy while he was on an errand for his mother at Prince bus stop, Isheri Osun area of Lagos.

It was gathered that the suspect tricked the boy, identified as Divine Ebie, from Isheri Osun to a shop at Ijegun where he exchanged him with the rice.

The suspect allegedly accosted the victim and introduced himself as a relative and then lured him to the shop where he collected the rice after convincing the sales girl that he was going to get the money while his brother remained with her.
