Edo Gov to refurbish Ogbemudia Stadium facilities


Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Wednesday, said his administration would refurbish facilities damaged by the last rainstorm at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

He stated this during an inspection tour to the damage facilities of the stadium in Benin City, the Edo State Capital, where he also noted that revealed that some of such facilities would be overhauled and upgraded.


The governor, who was taken round the damaged facilities by the Asst. Director of sports facilities, Victor Edokpayi, said the inspection became necessary following the damage to some facilities at the Stadium to strategize on how the facilities could be fixed.

Police to award posthumous awards to two officers killed in Owerri bank robbery as Zenith bank compensates family


Imo State Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, has announced plans by the state command to confer posthumous promotion on the two officers, Sergeant Chukwudi Iboko and Sergeant Sunday Agbo, killed during a bank robbery in Owerri, the state capital in February this year.

This awards come as Zenith bank where the police officers were stationed, also released funds as compensation to the deceased families.


The CCTV footage of the bank robbery went viral last week with many Nigerians calling for the families of the brave mobile police officers to be adequately compensated.

DSS Releases Names of Top 8 Kidnappers Captured in 2017

The Department of State Services (DSS) has listed some of the successes recorded during its operations in 2017 with support from sister agencies.

The agency in a statement signed by a DSS spokesperson, Tony Opuiyo on Monday noted that the capturing of notorious kidnap kingpin, Terwase Akwaza, among other high profile terrorists in the country, was made possible through its tactical operations.

" Igbos Are Not Ready For Another Civil War" - Governor Okorocha

Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has advised Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to desist from agitating for secession, saying the Igbos were not ready for another civil war.

Okorocha gave the advice at a news briefing at the Government House in Owerri on Tuesday.

He also urged the Movement for Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and other Nigerians in diaspora,drumming support for the actualisation of Biafra, to stop.

Okorocha called on Igbo youths to calm down and redirect their agitation toward the actualisation of
economic advancement of Igbos rather than asking for a new sovereign nation.

Breaking: CCT clears Saraki of false asset declaration charges

The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) has dismissed the charges of false asset declaration against Senate President, Bukola Saraki. Chairman of the tribunal, Danladi Umar, in his ruling this morning, said the prosecution team had failed to provide sufficient evidence to prove that Saraki was indeed guilty of false asset declaration.

The witnesses brought in by the Federal government had given contrary testimonies during the trial. On May 4th this year, Saraki through his counsel, informed the tribunal that he would file a no-case submission, which implies that he is not opening a defence but asking the tribunal to discharge him of the charges because there is no case against him.

Police chase accomplices of notorious richest kidnapper, Evans

Officers of the Nigeria Police Force have been dispatched to various locations outside Lagos to apprehend accomplices of billionaire kidnapper - Security has been tightened around the notorious kidnapper to prevent efforts to permanently silence him so he does not reveal too much - The police are also on the look-out for more properties owned by the criminal Chukwudi Onuamadike alias Evans, the notorious kidnapper who was arrested in his palatial Lagos mansion, has started spilling names of his high-profile accomplices, Vanguard reports. This comes barely 48 hours after he was 

arrested by officers of the Nigerian Police Force. Investigators working on the case have been kept busy with the details and some of them have already been dispatched to locations outside Lagos, including Edo, Umuahia, Aba, Onitsha and Nnewi to search for the named accomplices. Police chase accomplices of notorious richest kidnapper Evans was arrested at his palatial mansion in Magodo, Lagos.

Revealed: Aisha Buhari Lied, She Didn't See President Buhari During Last Trip To UK - Report

Sahara Reporters is claiming that Aisha Buhari, wife of President Muhammadu Buhari lied abut seeing her husband during her last trip to the United Kingdom.
 
According to the media house, President Buhari was not allowed to receive his wife during her recent visit to the UK. A source in the presidency also said that the president has been kept away from several of his aides and even those bodyguards who supposedly traveled with him.

Also, Buhari has not spoken to Acting President Yemi Osinbajo for several weeks following his departure from Abuja for a second round of medical treatment for an undisclosed medical condition suspected to be cancer.

Hired assassin Lynched while trying to strangle a boutique owner in Lagos [video]

A man, alleged to be a hired assassin sent from Sapele in Delta state to kill a boutique owner in Jakande, was caught, stripped, and beaten by residents. The man escaped getting burnt alive thanks to police intervention.
The attack on the alleged criminal was filmed and shared online. 

From the video, it can be gleaned that the man bit his victim and tried to strangle her but she was able to scream and that got people's attention. The woman has been taken to the hospital to receive
medical attention.

The Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has, Tuesday, ordered the security chiefs to ensure that all lives of Nigerians and their property are fully protected at all times and always, anywhere in the country.

The Acting President gave the directives during a meeting with the security chiefs over the weekend.
A statement by his spokesperson, Laolu Akande said Professor Osinbajo gave the directive in response to the recent threat by some northern groups that Ndigbo must leave the northern region

Edo to set up ambulance and Emergency Response System

Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, yesterday, disclosed that his administration would work with Edo State branch of Nigerian Red Cross Society to set up an emergency response system for providing First Aid for accident victims.

Governor Obaseki, receiving members of the society, led by the Chairman, Festus Alenkhe, disclosed this at the Edo State Government House in Benin City, adding that his administration had been formulating policies to set up an ambulance service or emergency response system in the state.



The Red Cross Society, he continued, would be part of the administration by partnering with the state medical personnel to ensure success, even as he stressed the need for the society to continue with rendering selfless services to humanity.
