Obaseki pays condolence visit to victims of Herdsmen attack and their families in Edo state [photos]


Edo state Governor Godwin Obaseki today paid a condolence visit to the families of the two women that were raped and murdered by the herdsmen in state. 

The governor who was accompanied by the state Chief of staff, Mr Akenrele Taiwo, APC State party Chairman Bar.Anslem Ojezua, and Honourable member representing Esan Central LGA Hon.Victor Edoror,  sympathized with the families and assured the community that such nefarious act won't happen again as the state government already put up mechanisms to deal with the menace of Fulani herdsmen across the state. 
                                        
While speaking the Governor revealed that the issue of Herdsmen is a national security issue which needs holistic approach.

"I Will Achieve Buhari's 10,000 Megawatts By 2019" - Fashola


The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has said that the 10,000 megawatts target given by the Buhari administration, needed to supply the country with adequate electricity by the end of 2019 is achievable.

Mr Fashola stated this while speaking as a guest on Channels Television breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily.

He said that “Sometimes when we sustain energy over 4,000 or 5,000 the feedback I get suggests to me that if we added a little more, we might as well be getting a little closer, but we must continue to work harder.

Woman Parks Car To Use ATM In Lagos, Kidnapper Enters & Drives Off With Child & Grandma


A kidnapper was caught in Gbagada, Lagos, on Tuesday when he tried to kidnapped a baby and the baby's Grandma.

An eyewitness said, "The mother of the little baby just parked, left the Granny and baby in the car so she could use a nearby ATM.
"She left the car engine on and before she returned the kidnapper entered the car and drove off.

80 killed, hundreds wounded in car bomb blast in Afghanistan (Photos)

A suicide bomb attack hit near the German Embassy in Kabul during rush hour Wednesday morning, killing 80 people close to a highly secure diplomatic area, Afghan officials said.


In addition to the fatalities, 300 others were injured, the health ministry said. A towering plume of smoke rose over the Afghan capital as emergency vehicles sped toward it.

A pregnant woman on Saturday, May 26, allegedly set her husband and herself ablaze over alleged infidelity at their Sabon Gari residence in Kano, five weeks after their wedding. [see here]


It was gathered that the woman accused her husband of infidelity after she overhead a phone conversation between him and an unidentified woman. She snatched the phone with him and threatened to do something bad.

Edo community Send SoS to Obaseki over dilapidated roads

Residents of Egoro -Na-Oka Community in Esan West Local Government of Edo State, have expressed concern over the deplorable state of the road that links them with neighboring Ekpoma Town.

The residents complained of the non accessible situation of the road mostly at this peak of rainy season.
 
They said that erosion has degraded the road thereby making it inaccessible and has cut them off from the local government headquarter.

How An Edo Woman hired assassins to kill ex-lover from Italy

Men of the Edo State Police Command are on the trail of a lady who allegedly hired assassins to kill her ex-lover, Mr. Okundolor Omoruyi.

Omoruyi, aged 39, was killed in May at Utagban quarters in Egor local government area few weeks after he arrived Nigeria from Italy. [see]
 
The lady whose identity was yet to be ascertained was said to have contracted the killers because she was jilted by the late Omoruyi.

State Commissioner of Police, Haliru Gwandu, who paraded two suspects arrested in connection to the killing said another 18 years old girl was killed by the gang for recognizing one of them.

Obaseki commissions electricity project in Benin

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, on Tuesday, inaugurated a 300KVA transformer substation valued at over N40 million in Ogbekpen Community of Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of the state.



Constructed and donated to the community by PRESCO PLC, the project was one of the company’s corporate social responsibilities to provide better living conditions for people in the community.

Obaseki inaugurates PPP Law task force

Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki has restated his administration’s determination to enforce the Community Development Association (CDA) law, stressing that the long arm of the law would catch up with anyone found contravening any section of such law.

This was on Tuesday in Benin City where the governor inaugurated the committee, led by the
Chairman and former Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase.



Governor Obaseki noted that the activities of the so-called CDAs not only posed challenges to the political climate of the state, but also retarded economic growth and development in the communities particularly and the state in general.

CBN Injects $482.6m Into Forex Market, Naira Gains

The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, on Tuesday cushion the economy by injecting a total of $482.6 million into the foreign exchange market.

According to a statement released by its Acting Director, Corporate Communications, Mr Isaac Okorafor in Abuja, this was part of the measures promised by the apex bank to moderate the Naira's value and sustain forex liquidity.
The breakdown of the intervention shows $285.7 million was allocated to the retail Secondary Market Intervention Sales, while $100 million was offered in the Wholesale SMIS auction window.

3 South African women kidnapped, drugged and raped man for three days

A 23yr old South African man was kidnapped and raped by three female assailants in a taxi. What started out as an ordinary commute took a traumatic turn when he hailed a communal taxi which had the women as passengers and got in. Woman Locks Housemaid In Toilet For 20 Days

34yrs old Oyinyen Chuks was on Tuesday charged at Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos with locking up her 14-year old housemaid in a toilet for 20 days.

Oyinyen, a trader, who resides at 19, Ojo St., Shasha, a suburb of Lagos, is facing a four-count charge bordering on assault

The prosecutor, Sgt. Raphael Donny, told the court that the offences were committed between May 2 and May 22 at the residence of the accused.

Donny said that the accused alleged that the housemaid stole her money and beat her mercilessly.

Customs impounds 941 bags of rice worth N6.8m

The Nigeria Customs Service, Western Marine Command, (WMC),  on Tuesday said its officers seized 941 bags of rice estimated at N6, 830,791 being smuggled into the country.

The new Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Sarkin Kebbi, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the seizure was barely a month after he assumed duty at the command.

“As you are aware, I took over the helm of affairs in this command on Tuesday, 25th April, 2017.

“My first official assignment was on the 27th April, 2017 where I led a team of inspectors from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture delegated by the Office of the National Security Adviser to inspect a vessel, MV TEAM TANGO, that was arrested.
