Wife sets self and husband ablaze weeks after Marriage over Husband's infidelity

 Following her suspicion of her husband of few weeks cheating on her, a woman based in Kano reportedly set herself and her husband on fire early this morning.

It was gathered that the incident occurred at No 54 Middle Road residence in the Sabon Gari area of Kano, as she reportedly lit a petrol keg which exploded, engulfing herself and the husband.

Her husband who didn’t die on the spot, however died after he was rushed to Fortress Hospital at Sarki Yaki within the metropolis for medical attention, after suffering severe burns from the fire. His wife who was burnt beyond recognition, died at the spot.

Former governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, on Tuesday said he would still take a shot at the presidency, if the opportunity presents itself.

Duke spoke at a programme, “The Nigerian Symposium for Emerging Leaders ‘’, held in Lagos.

He said though he once aspired to the position but did not emerge the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he would still contest for the highest office in the country at the appropriate time. Duke explained that it was because of his preference for the presidential seat that he did not vie for any federal legislative seat after serving out his terms as governor.

10-year-old girl engaged in prostitution caught with 4 men in Suleja

 A 10-year-old girl caught making out with 4-men in an uncompleted building at old Kwata of Suleja, has revealed how much  men pay her daily to sleep with her. According to the young girl who hawks sachet water, they pay her between N100 to N200.

In her chat with The AU­THORITY, she disclosed that she started sleeping with men since when she was 8 years old.

“I started sleeping with men when I was eight years old. I use the money they give me and the one I get from my pure water business to sustain my parents and two siblings,” she said.

Man Stripped and Paraded For Stealing Fan in Redeemed Church [PHOTOS]

Mob in Ogun State stripped and paraded a middle-aged man naked for allegedly stealing a standing fan from a Redeemed Christian Church of God, Onifade town via Ayobo, Ogun State.

A video of the suspected thief being paraded naked was recently posted online in two parts.

In the first part, the man was made to carry the fan he allegedly stole on his head while a crowd of spectators followed him with some of them chanting songs.

Appeal Court dismisses PDP, Ize-Iyamu attempt to amend records

The Court of Appeal sitting in Benin has dismissed a motion by the People Democratic Party (PDP) and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu to, by way of substitution, amend certain portions of the Edo Election Tribunal Chairman, Justice Ahmed Badamasi’s record in favour of another tribunal judge, Gilbert Igele’s record, which they contended was more accurate.

The PDP and its candidate, Pastor Ize-Iyamu, are challenging the judgement of the Edo Election Petition Tribunal delivered on the 14th of Aprilupholding the victory of the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Mr Godwin Obaseki as Governor of Edo State. They filed 41 grounds of appeal against the tribunal judgment, while Obaseki filed four grounds of cross appeal.
Counsel to PDP, Yusuf Ali (SAN) contended that the correctness of a Court's record was probable and asked the court to only rely on Exhibit C, as recorded by the 2nd judge at the tribunal to commence the appeal, which to him contained the actual, correct and true account of what transpired as testified by PW01.

Ex-minister, Borishade to be buried July 8 – Family

Former Minister of Education, Prof. Babalola Borishade will be buried on July 8 his family said on Tuesday while announcing the funeral arrangement of the late minister.

According to a statement by Dr Lamide Borishade on behalf of the family, there will be a Day of Tributes in memory of the late Minister on July 4 at the Shehu Musa YarÁdua Center, Central Business District (CBD), Abuja from 2.00p.m.

Also, there will be a Commendation service on July 4 at his residence, 108 Ebitu Ukiwe Street, Jabi, Abuja from 7p.m. to 9p.m.

22,430 Repentant Cultists Surrender Arms In Rivers

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers said today that the State’s amnesty programme witnessed 22, 430 repentant cultists surrendered 911 assorted arms to the amnesty Committee.

Wike dropped the hint at a Town Hall meeting and accountability Forum to mark his administration’s second year anniversary in Port Harcourt.

He stated that the amnesty programme had reduced cult related violence and other criminal activities
in the state.

The governor noted that the programme had also resulted in surrendering 7,661 assorted ammunitions and 147 explosives by the repentant cultists.

22-Year Old Female Accounting Student Paraded In Edo For FRAUD [Photos]

A 22-year old 300-level Accounting student of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma who identified herself as Benedicta Otaigbe, has been arrested by the anti-fraud unit of the Edo State Police Command.

She was among 48 suspects arrested by the police command for various offences ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery, fraud, cultism and were paraded to journalists at the police headquarters
in Benin.

The suspects were paraded shortly after operatives of the command engaged in Operation Show of Force, to demonstrate their readiness to protect lives and properties of Edo residents.

DSS to hand over 82 rescued Chibok schoolgirls to Ministry of Women Affairs

The Department of State Services (DSS) will hand over the 82 rescued Chibok schoolgirls to the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, today, May 30th, for counseling and rehabilitation.

The 82 girls were freed earlier this month in exchange for an unspecified number of detained Boko Haram militants after series of negotiation with the federal government.

Information from the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture, said the handing-over ceremony will take place at the National Women Development Centre, in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Senate Passes Buhari’s Anti-Corruption Bill

The Nigerian Senate has passed an executive bill seeking mutual assistance in criminal matters between Nigeria and foreign states.

The bill, Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters between Nigeria and other Foreign States, 2017 (SB. 224) was read for the third time at plenary and eventually passed.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki on Tuesday said the passage of the bill would bring confidence to foreign investors and strengthen the Senate support of the Executive in fighting corruption.

Police Arraigns Whistle-blower Over False Information on Ekweremadu's House

The Nigerian Police Force has arraigned one person for allegedly providing false information to the police in connection with the raid on the house of the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu.

Mr Ahmed Echoda was arraigned on Tuesday allegedly providing false information to the police, leading to the raid of Senator Ike Ekweremadu’s house.

The suspect, who was arraigned on one count of giving false information to the police, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Christian Association of Nigeria has taken over the case of the sacked Presiding Chaplain of the Chapel of Christ the Light, Venerable Femi Taiwo, PUNCH reports.

Kidnappers of six students in Lagos state reduce ransom

The kidnappers of six male students of the Igbonla Model School, Igbonla near Epe in Lagos state, have reduced the N1 billion ransom they initially asked parents of the students to pay.

According to reports, the kidnappers have asked some of the parents with good jobs to pay between N20 million and N50 million ransom while others with not so good jobs were asked to pay lesser for the release of their sons.

Parents of the abducted students and the management of the school had a meeting yesterday to decide on how they can contribute towards paying the ransom. According to Vanguard, the meeting ended in a deadlock as the school management informed the parents they were not going to be a party to ransom payment.

Dangote to spend 10 billion dollars on rice cultivation...gives tools to block makers

Suspected cultists storm hospital in Delta state to kill an alleged cultist who was rushed there for medical attention

Suspected cult members yesterday invaded the General Hospital in Bomadi, Bomadi L.G.A of Delta state and killed a patient. According to reports, there was a clash between rival cult groups earlier in the day and during the clash, one of the cultists was killed while some others sustained injuries and had to be taken to the hospital.


One of the injured cult member who was rushed to the general Hospital was trailed and then killed.
