Tragedy As Imam, Wife, 4 Children Are Butchered By Hoodlums In Ijebu-Ode

A Muslim cleric, Sheik Yusuf Amzat-Salam, 35, his wife and four children were killed by hoodlums in the early hours of Tuesday in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun. The killings occurred at Atiba area of Odogbolu Local Government Area. It was gathered that the eldest child, a girl, was aged 11, followed by her twin brothers, aged 8 and the last female child, aged 2.

All the victims had since been buried accordance to Muslim rites amid wailing.

VIO permanently banned from Lagos roads - Govenor Ambode

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Tuesday put the uncertainty concerning the absence of Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) on Lagos roads to rest once and for all, stating categorically that he has asked them to stay off the roads permanently.

Governor Ambode, who said this at the commissioning of Pedestrian Bridges, Laybys and Slip Road at Ojodu Berger, also urged the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to limit its operations to the fringes and highways and stay clear from the main streets of the State.

He said the decisions were in line with his administration’s resolve to ensure free flow of traffic across the State, noting that their activities were contributing to traffic congestion on Lagos roads. The Governor said, “Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, let me use this opportunity to reiterate that Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) have been asked to stay off our roads permanently.

The Nigerian Army says it has arrested a top Boko Haram commander notorious for terror activities in Yobe State and environs. A statement signed by Army spokesman, Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman revealed that troops stationed at Forward Operation Base, Potiskum arrested the notorious Boko Haram commander in Yobe state.

The suspect, a 35-year-old man called Abubaka Adamu, popularly known as ‘Pepper’ was arrested around New Prison area, Potiskum, Potiskum local government area, Yobe state.

Adeleke Was Given Overdose Of Banned Injection - LAUTECH CMD

The Chief Medical Director, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, Prof Akeem Lasisi, has testified that the late senator representing Osun-West senatorial district, Chief Isiaka Adeleke, died of an overdose of banned injections.

Testifying before a coroner, Mr Olusegun Ayilara, in Osogbo, on Monday, Lasisi, who spoke from the witness box, said the Chief Medical Director of Biket Hospital, Osogbo, Dr Adebisi Adenle, called him on the telephone on April 23 to tell him that Adeleke had died.

Lasisi, who said he saw Adeleke’s corpse on a table at LAUTECH’s morgue, added that a pathologist, one Dr Solaja; two resident doctors, who are also pathologists; the Officer in Charge of

A witness of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Kenneth Uchechuchukwu Osokogu, today told Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja, how the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) under Alex Badeh’s watch, made payments to the tune of N157million to companies linked to the former Chief of Defense Staff, CDS, for non-existent contracts.

Testifying as the prosecuting witness 18, Osokogu told the court that the money was paid to Iyalikam Nigeria Limited and Prince and Princess Multi-services Limited.

N3bn fraud: Former Niger state governor, Babangida Aliyu arraigned in court

Edo to boost forex with rubber

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has declared his administration’s readiness to reposition the state at the vanguard of rubber production and processing in order to increase foreign exchange earnings.

This was as he received the management of the Rubber Research Institute of Nigeria (RRIN) at the Edo State Government House in Benin on Monday, where he noted that rubber was a major source of foreign earnings for the country before the advent of crude oil, and that investment in rubber would be worthwhile investment because it was a global commodity.

Felony: Court remand Edo activist

An Oredo Magistrate Court sitting in Benin City, has remanded an Edo state based activist, one Mr Kola Edokpaiyi in prison custody for treasonable felony.

The prominent activist was said to have be rounded up by men of the state police command at his Benin residence at the early hours of Tuesday.
He was remanded yesterday on two count charge of Treason and attempted invasion of the state with foreigners with an intent to cause mayhem.

NIEPA, Edo set to train educationists

Ondo State based National Institute for Education Planning and Administration (NIEPA) has declared its intention to collaborate with the Edo State government to equip educators, education planners and Administrators in the state with relevant skills to enable them raise education standard in the country.
