Edo governorship tribunal chair cautions PDP counsel against guiding witness

Chairman of Edo state governorship election tribunal, Justice Ahmed Badamasi yesterday cautioned the counsels of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against guiding their witnesses while in the witness box in ongoing appearance of witnesses to authenticate the party’s claim that the September 28, 2016 governorship election was manipulated.
Badamasi gave this caution when a PDP witness Omoruyi Edonaye was under cross-examination from counsels to the respondents and there were attempts to guide him.

DSS Storms Calabar School, Flogs Teachers in Front of Students

Six teachers at the Federal Government Girls College in Calabar on Thursday alleged that they were beaten in the presence of pupils by operatives of the Department of State Services, Cross River State Command.

They alleged that the armed security officials stormed the school premises at about 10am on the invitation of a female DSS official who had come to beat up a teacher for flogging her daughter.

Trump’s Travel Ban Not Directed Against Islam, UAE Minister Says

The United Arab Emirates' top diplomat has defended U.S. President Donald Trump’s travel ban on seven predominantly Muslim countries against allegations of Islamophobia.

President Trump signed an executive order last week barring travelers from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. The president had promised “a total and complete shutdown on Muslims” during his election campaign.
