The Cross River State Police Command has recovered more than 12 car batteries from the apartment of some suspected criminals in Calabar. The suspects were paraded alongside the stolen batteries and the tools they used in carrying out their criminal acts.

According to Calabar Reporters, car batteries which were sold between N28, 000 to N30,000 are being stolen and sold by these criminals for as low as N5,000 to N10,000 just to get money to smoke and drink.

"They are hunting for Car batteries in Calabar like gold. Some even go ahead to steal in a broad day light, a situation where many have been burnt to death by a mob, including a 9, 10 and a 12-year-old boy at Mayne Avenue. To this teenagers, a N1000 note is so as big as a million. For these reasons, car owners in Calabar now use padlock for their batteries due to theft"
Just imagine, you labour and buy battery for N35k, then one foolish small boy would come and break your glass, still the battery and sell it for N5k, if I catch the ones who stole mine eh, ama break their necks
