OBA OF BENIN TASKS THE SOLOMON ARASE PRIVATE PROPERTY PROTECTION COMMITTEE TO DO A GOOD WORK

By: Desmond Agbama

Those still parading themselves as members of the outlawed Community Development Association (CDA) in the various villages in Benin Kingdom or fomenting trouble in the state have been advised to desist or be ready to face the wrath of the law.
This advice was handed down when the Solomon Arase led Private Property Protection Committee otherwise known as Anti-CDA Task Force paid a courtesy visit on the Oba of Benin in his Palace.

The Benin Monarch expressed confidence that members of the Committee will succeed in their assignment, considering the calibre and experiences of the Committee members.

Oba Ewuare II advised the Committee members to do their work to convince the people that they were out to correct the ills perpetuated by CDA members and others who constitute hindrance to land acquisition and development in the state.

The Oba of Benin prayed for the success of the Committee, adding that they should always report any challenges that may be confronting them in the course of discharging their duties to the Palace.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Private Property Protection Committee and a former Inspector General of Police, Dr. Solomon Arase said they were in the Palace to inform the Oba of Benin about the progress being made.

He disclosed that over seventy (70) cases have been received, while 50 have been served and two (2) already disposed off.

Dr. Arase said the Committee would be organising a sensitization workshop to sensitize Enigie, Edionwere, Igie-Ohen, Ex-CDA members and the general public on the operations of the Committee.

The retired Inspector General of Police told the Oba of Benin that so far, the people have trust and confidence for the Committee and the vision of the Benin Monarch.

He assured that the structure to deal decisively with the situation would be fully put in place in the next few months, pointing out that they would executive their job without sentiment or consideration for personalities.
