Edo police arrests Pastor, his sister for allegedly trafficking young girls to Russia



The Edo State Police command have arrested one Pastor Endurance Ehioze and his sister for allegedly trafficking young girls to Russia.

Confirming their arrest to Vanguard, the commissioner of police in the state, Haliru Gwandu, said they were arrested after an NGO who got wind of their illicit activities, reported them to the police. Narrating her experience in the hands of the pastor and his sister, one of the victims, 24 year old Miss Florence Abu, said;

Former President Of European Parliament 'Simone Veil' Dies at 89

Simone Veil, former European Parliament President is dead.
Veil, a Jewish survivor of the Holocaust, was a strong advocate for European unity and became the first directly elected president of the European Parliament in 1979. She played a very important role in the legalising abortion in France during the 1970s.

She was 89 years old at the time of her death.

Police Declare Nigerian Man Wanted In Malaysia For The Death Of A 5 Year Old Boy [photos]


The police are looking for a 31-year-old Nigerian man identified as Ebiziem Ifeanyi Stephen to assist in investigations into the death of a five-year-old boy last Thursday, June 22.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Ruslan Khalid said that the police brought in the deceased's mother, Nurfathiehah Ahmad Rokmar, 28, on June 23.


"She was picked up by the police in Bayan Baru, Penang and will be remanded until June 30," he said in a press conference at the district police headquarters today, Thursday, June 29, adding that they may seek an extension.

Man Files Lawsuit To Compel Senate To Ascertain Buhari’s Health Status

 A Nigerian man who goes by the name Toyin Dawodu, has filed a lawsuit to compel the Senate of Nigeria to constitute a medical panel to determine if President Muhammadu Buhari can discharge his constitutional duties. .

In a statement dated June 28, he said he instructed his attorneys from Forthright Chambers and lawyers for Citizens Advocacy of Nigeria to file the action [FHC/ABJ/CS/508/2017] at the Federal High Court in Abuja a few weeks ago. .

Citing reports that Nigeria is being controlled by a group of unelected bureaucrats, and that Mr. Buhari is in such incapacitation that even his wife is not allowed to see him, Mr. Dawodu said it was possible that President Buhari is being held by his handlers against his will, and that Nigerians deserve to know his current status and whereabouts. .

No plan to establish grazing agency says Edo speaker

The Speaker of Edo House of Assembly, Justin Okonoboh has said the house has not taken decision on a bill to establish grazing agency in the state.

It would be recalled that the bill for a law to establish Edo State Control of Nomadic cattle rearing and Grazing Agency had passed through second reading on the floor of the house.
 
Okonoboh told newsmen in Benin that the private member bill which has sparked off controversy in the state was yet to be brought before the house for deliberation.

Motorists begs FG to repair decaying Benin-Auchi highway

Motorists plying the Benin/Auchi Highway have appealed to the Federal Government to urgently repair the road which is gradually inflicting suffering on road users.

The motorists noted that driving within the Ehor/Ekpoma section had become terrible following the start of the rainy season and has increased the travel-time from Benin to Auchi that usually lasted between two hours and two hours and thirty minutes to four hours.
They noted that the inside Ekpoma main town serving as an alternative route is fairly better than the highway but also in a deplorable condition and needs attention.

Briefing newmen in Benin City, the state commandant NSCDC, Makinde Isikil Ayinla reassured the public of its resolve to put a stop to all forms of oil bunkery by vandals in the state.
Ayinla said the activities of oil thief in the country affect the country’s economies pointing out that this necessitated the move by the corps to go after those who indulge in vandalism of oil pipelines, oil theft and illegal refineries in the state.

Ogun college Finally suspends lecturer Accused of impregnating nursing student

The Ogun State College of Health Technology, Ilese Ijebu, has finally suspended the lecturer who was accused of impregnating a nursing student. [read story here] Dr Seyi Adu, who works with the school has been indefinitely suspended by the college.
It was gathered that Seyi’s suspension for allegedly having sex in a hotel sometime in August 2016 with a nursing student of the school, Mosunmola, was posted on a notice board at the administration block of the college, where the academic community was asked not to have any dealings with him.

2017 Budget: Reps Ask Fashola To Explain N20bn Miscellaneous Expenses

Exasperated by rebuttals from Babatunde Fashola, Minister of Power, Works and Housing, over National Assembly’s responses to his recent outburst over alleged unnecessary insertions into the 2017 Appropriation Act, Abdulrazaq Namdas, spokesman of the House of Representatives, on Thursday said Fashola should be bold and sincere enough to tell Nigerians why his ministry inserted N20 billion for miscellaneous expenditure while the second Niger Bridge had N12 billion estimate.


Namdas, who chairs the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, told journalists in a chat that “17 years after the practice of democracy, the three arms of government ought to have graduated from this level of altercations as Sections 4, 59, 80 and 81 of the 1999 constitution as amended clearly spells out the functions of the legislature.”

"You Can’t Force Islamic Studies On Our Children" - PFN, Bishop Oyedepo Warn

Arising from an emergency meeting in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria on Thursday, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, and the General Overseer, Living Faith, Bishop David Oyedepo have warned the Federal and State Governments against attempt to force Christian students in secondary schools to offer Islamic Studies.

Speaking while addressing newsmen at the PFN Headquarters in Isolo, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, Oyedepo said government had no right to force subjects on anybody, saying that by stopping Christian Religion Studies, CRS, at the Senior Secondary School level, it automatically meant that it would not be embraced at the tertiary institutions.

65-year-old man caught having sex with a dog [photos]




Sattahip police, Thailand were called to a deserted house after the owner of a seven year old Thai dog reported that a man had raped her pet. The dog owner Bang-orn Phumkaew called the cops after catching the 65 year old man completely naked with "Jao Jut", a Thai breed of dog.

The culprit "Chen" was caught having intercourse with the dog, on Wednesday, June 28.

EFCC traces N603 million to the wife of a civil servant

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has traced the sum of N603 million to the wife of Mr Josiah Habu, who is the Director of the Bioresources Development Centre in Bayelsa State.

Investigations carried out by EFCC showed that Esther was given suspicious contracts by over 20 directors of BIODEC across the country.
 
A statement by the EFCC spokesman, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, stated that about N70m was traced to Esther's husband. Director-General of NABDA, Prof Lucy Ogbadu, who oversees all BIODEC branches across the country was also arrested by the anti-graft agency.

Kidnappers Kill Ex-Governor Jang's Aide, Abduct 2 Others

Elder Sunny Iyere, former Special Assistant to former Plateau Governor Jonah Jang has been murdered by kidnapers along Abuja-Kafanchan highway, while two others on transit with him were kidnapped and held hostage for three days.

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state has denied having a hand in the Anti-Grazing Bill, which has passed its second reading, at the Edo House of Assembly, noting that the government’s position on the bill would be made known at the public hearing.


This was according to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr John Mayaki, who also explained that comments from the opposition party, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), were severely misguided and stemmed from lack of proper investigation.

Rivers Tribunal Sacks PDP Senator, Sekibo, Declares APC Winner

The Rivers State elections petition tribunal has sacked George Thompson Sekibo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator representing Rivers east.

The tribunal has declared Andrew Uchendu, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the winner of the senatorial election.

It also directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the certificate of return issued to Sekibo and issue a fresh certificate of return to Uchendu.


The tribunal’s decision was hinged on the fact that Uchendu won the lawful majority vote cast during the Rivers Re-run legislative election.

Niger-Delta Militants Withdraw Threat To Attack Oil Pipelines

A newly-formed Nigerian militant group has withdrawn a threat to attack oil pipelines in the country’s oil-rich Niger Delta after a spate of incidents in 2016 plunged the country into recession.
 
On Wednesday, the group withdrew the threat and said it had “shelved our planned attack on major oil facilities” in order to make room for ongoing negotiations between the Nigerian government and regional leaders in the Delta to bear fruit.

“We have decided to give peace a chance,” said the New Delta Avengers, in a statement reported by AFP.

64 year old woman sentenced to 25 years imprisonment for drug trafficking

 A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, yesterday, sentenced 64-year-old Odeyemi Omolola, who is charged before the court alongside a Lagos socialite, Mrs. Funmilola Ogbuaya, also known as Funmilola Ogundipe, popularly known in social circles as Ariket, to 25 years imprisonment, for attempting to export 1.595 kilogrammes of cocaine to Saudi Arabia.

Trial judge, Justice Hadizat Rabiu-Shagari sentenced the convict, who is also known as Ariyo Monsurat Olabisi, after she changed her plea in an amended five counts of the charge.

Court slams N4B against Sahara Reporters Over False Saraki Publications

 An Ilorin High Court judge, Justice Adeyinka Oyinloye on Wednesday slammed a N4 billion judgment against the publisher of popular online newspaper, Sahara Reporters, Mr. Omoyele Sowore, over series of stories published last year by the medium against Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki.

According to Reports, the judgment affected stories published by the online medium against Saraki between September and December of 2015.
 
The Senate President had, through his lawyer, Babatunde Olomu, asked for the intervention of the court following the publication of series of libellous stories against him by Sahara Reporters. Both Sowore and Sahara Reporters were joined as defendants in the suit marked as KWS/23/2017.

Pay your tax or go to jail, Osinbajo gives 9 month deadline to tax evaders .

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has offered nine months grace period to tax payers to regularise their tax status or face criminal prosecution for tax offences. .

Osinbajo gave the ultimatum in Abuja on Thursday at the inauguration of the Voluntary Assets and Income Declaration Scheme (VAIDs).He said “The scheme will be operated from July 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018. .
 
“It will be supported by an executive order, which I will sign into law today to offer a once in a life time opportunity to those in default to regularise their tax affairs. “In exchange for full and honest declaration, tax evaders will receive immunity from prosecution, forgiveness of penalty and interest that is due on unpaid taxes.

Governor Udom's aide resigns After Being Appointed for 18 Months without an Office

A Special Assistant to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State on Electoral Matters (Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District), Barrister Chris Okorie has resigned his appointment.

FG begins yam exports to Europe, US (PHOTOS)

The Federal Government on Thursday began to export yams to Europe and the United States, as part of moves to diversify its oil-dependent economy and earn much-needed foreign exchange.

Agriculture minister AuduOgbeh flagged off the first consignment of the fibrous tuber from the port in the country's economic capital, Lagos.

"Oil and gas cannot employ millions of people just like agriculture so we must work hard to move from oil to earning foreign exchange from agriculture," he said on Wednesday.


Ogbeh told a news conference inspection charges on export produce would be reduced to encourage more overseas sales and greater competition.

Drama: Lebanese Blocks Abuja Games Village Gate (Photo)

Residents of the popular Games Village Estate in Abuja have cried out over the blocking of their estate by Lebanese community in Abuja over development of a disputed land within the estate.

Secretary of the Games Village Residents Association, Jude Uze, confirmed the development to newsmen on Thursday.

His words: “Lebanese community said they have approval from the authorities to build a church inside the estate and we said no.”

European Court sentences baby to death

A European Human Rights Court has given its verdict on a case of human rights that will compel a couple to allow their sick baby to die.

The parents of the baby Chris Gard and Connie Yates have been in a long legal battle to save their baby who is suffering from a serious genetic illness. According to reports, the baby is currently on life support while treatment options were being considered.
 
At 8 weeks old, Charlie was diagnosed with mitochondrial DNA depletion syndrome and is considered to be only one of 16 babies worldwide with this disease. His condition is progressive and currently incurable and eventually fatal.

Indonesia Imposes Travel Ban On Trump's Business Partner

Indonesian authorities have imposed a travel ban on tycoon and politician Hary Tanoesoedibjo, who is building resorts to be managed by Trump hotels, over an investigation into allegations he threatened a prosecutor via a text message.
Tanoesoedibjo has been given a 20-day overseas travel ban starting on June 22 based on a request by Indonesian police's criminal investigation unit Agung Sampurno, a spokesman at the immigration directorate said on Wednesday.

Naira To Further Improve Next Months - CBN

The Central Bank Of Nigeria, CBN, on Wednesday, remained optimism that the naira will further appreciate months to come and boost dollar supply by selling $195 million into various segment of the interbank foreign exchange market.

A breakdown of the intervention indicated that authorized dealers in the wholesale window segment received a $100 million offer from the Bank, while the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and invisibles windows were allocated $50 million and $45 million, respectively.

Presidency Explains Why The Presidential Jet Has Remained Parked in London

The Presidency said the retention of the Presidential Aircraft, NAF 001, in London where President Muhammadu Buhari is currently receiving medical attention was borne out protocol, national security, diplomacy and prestige and 'parking fees do not exceed 1000 euros'.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said this in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja on Thursday.
Shehu said, “The Presidency is constrained to decry criticisms, mostly on social media, on the retention in London of the Presidential Aircraft, NAF 001 as mostly informed by lack of understanding of protocol around foreign trips by Heads of State all over the world

Over 2000 PDP members defect to APC in Rivers

Over two thousand members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Degema local government area of Rivers state have defected to the main opposition party All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. The defectors were welcomed on Monday, June 26, at Tombia, Degema local government area, during an empowerment programme.
On hand to welcome the defectors, Dr. Sokonte Davies, a chieftain of the APC in Rivers and a former member of the House of Representatives representing Degema/Bonny constituency, described APC as the only party that is capable of meeting the aspirations of Nigerians, The Nation reports. According to him, the APC is a party every member should be proud of, in view of its commitment to the people and abhorrence to violence.

Sad: Man's Entire Family Wiped Out By Alleged Members of His Gang over Loot Sharing (graphic video)

According to the person who sent us this story, the sad incident happened somewhere in Ijebu Ode, the Alpha pictured below is alleged to be a leader of a gang and he is the one who does the preparation of charm for his members before they go on operations. The story has it, that they recently carried out an operation that raked in about N40m, which was entrusted into the hands of their leader (the Alpha) for sharing, but rather than sharing the money as agreed, the Alpha deposited the entire N40m into his account and invited members his gang for dinner where he poisoned and killed two members of the gang,   unfortunately for him one escaped and reported to others who returned to take revenge. 
Source says, the Alpha boasted that even if they killed him, they were not going to recover the money in his account that wife and children would enjoy the money when his gone, this angered his gang members and they decided to tie him up and murdered his wife and four children before killing him.

T.B. Joshua’s N10m Largesse Tears CDHR Apart

The ongoing crisis rocking one of Nigeria’s foremost civil society organisations, the Committee for Defence of Human Rights, CDHR, took a new turn after Lagos State chapter of the association disclosed that N10 million was allegedly donated to the association by founder of The Synagogue Church Of All Nations, Pastor T.B Joshua.

The State chapter added that the fund was allegedly donated by the cleric to CDHR through its President, Malachy Ugwumadu, and one Ade Ikuesan, to mobilize members to court whenever case on his collapsed six-storey building that allegedly led to death of over 100 Nigerians and foreigners at
Lagos State Corona Court is scheduled to hold.
