Wish Buhari well, not dead, Gov Okowa tell Nigerians

The Delta State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has described those plotting to use some officers in the Nigeria Army to hijack the Federal government because of the ill health of President Muhammadu Buhari as enemies of God and the country.

Governor Okowa stated this at the end of a 7 day convention tagged, "Too faithful to Fail" organized by the Rock of Ages Christian Assembly International in Benin City, the Edo state capital.
He said it was ungodly and barbaric for people to wish President Buhari dead when they were supposed to pray for him to stay alive and continue with the work in progress and unite the nation as one. He furthermore disclosed that any Christian who takes on complains rather than prayers are unbeliever because it is only with prayers that the nation will be healed of its numerous problems.

Okowa however explained that Delta state was facing more challenges than any state in the South-South region noting that prayers was only way forward out of militancy which once rocked the oil rich state.

Governor Okowa while explaining that due of the challenges, he declared every May 29 a day of worship and praise, urged the Christian community not to relent in praying for leaders and the country at large

According to him, "I am sure that most of you know that since 2016 Delta state has been a theatre of battle in the creeks concerning our oil facilities. But I believed and trusted in God that he sent me and by God's grace it has all stopped.

"I hope and pray that the church will continue to pray for us and even pray for Nigeria as a nation because if we don't pray for this country and we complain then you're not a Christian.

"When things go wrong in a nation like in Nigeria, it is a test of the faith of Christians in the country because the way things are only Christians can deliver the nation from where it is. Through your prayers both in the church and in your homes, so my appeal first is that please do not end your day without calling on God to rest his hand upon this nation, Nigeria.

“We have the duty to call on God, on behalf of this country. Don't blame Buhari or those in government because your prayers can change anything in this nation. It can change the direction of the policies in this nation, it can change the recession that we are in, but unfortunately most times we don't know what we carry as Christians.

“We are sick as a nation, we are sick as a people because when the nation is sick those who inhabit it are also sick. Not the sickness of malaria but I believe that as we pray, God will hear and heal our land”.

The Governor continued, "One thing I know about this country is that God is in charge and there is no reason for the health of the president. We are suppose to be praying for the health of the president so if any politician is approaching the Army then that person must be enemy of God and enemy of this country.

"We should pray for the President to stay alive and I don't think it is of God to pray for your leaders to die. It's God that determines when someone should be taken away or brought back. But I know that what we need to pray for is for the unity and progress of this nation and that is what I encourage everybody to pray about because Christians have a calling and that calling is to pray for our nation and its leadership". Okowa urged.

On his part, the Senior Pastor, RACAI Apostle Charles Osazuwa said the theme of the week long program was to impact in the people knowledge to be solution to the many problems confronting the country.

He said the convention has brought about "Revolution because it is critical to the state we are in the country. It is a time for certain individuals to rise up to take responsibilities rather than complain and become agents of solution to the too many problems confronting Nigeria".
