OPEN LETTER TO GOVERNOR OBASEKI BY ANGRY EDO ENTERTAINER

OPEN LETTER TO THE GOVERNOR OF EDO STATE (GODWIN OBASEKI) BY AN ANGRY OLD EDO ENTERTAINER ON THE PROBLEM OF ENETERTAINMENT IN EDO STATE 

 

They say if u push a goat to the wall and the goat sees no way further, it turns and face u, for long the entertainment sector in Edo state has suffered serious neglect all in name of LET SOME PEOPLE REPRESENT US. 

 

Over the years the entertainer of the state has always thought they, themselves (individual) was the problem by way of not doing good music, comedy, and films etc. before the government came in with the empowerment of some of us thinking that will correct the entertainment sector. If I may ask: what’s really the problem or who is to blame? (The government, the poor entertainers or the so called entertainers representatives in government) just please sit for a while and think. Greed, selfishness, hatred, jealousy, supremacy etc. came into the sector when the government came in with the empowerment. 

 

It was not a bad idea of the government to have empowered some entertainers from the state because it was the duty of the then Governor (the comrade) to carry all sector of the state along. The government had good prospect for us the entertainers, but was hijacked by some unscrupulous entities who ordinarily think they own the entertainment in our lovely state (greedy, selfish, stupid, money miss road, uneducated mediocre). I just laff. 

 

Over the years so many entertainment association came out in the state and the poor entertainers followed patiently (like mumu) thinking it was going to lead somewhere, NO it was just a way of some persons to enrich their pocket all in the name of moving and taking entertainment in the state to the next level. 

 

When the struggle of GOVERNMENT MUST SUPPORT THE STATE ENTERTAINMENT started, the major failed campaign promises by the selfish so called entertainers representatives in government, was the usage of external entertainers way over the local content in our state events (i.e. too much use of the Lagos artiest AND PAYING THEM 80PERSENT OVER THE LOCAL CONTENT) but after they got the offices with the support of the poor state entertainers, it gone Worse because they saw it as an opportunity for them having individual relationship with the external entertainer at the detriment of the poor local content. (una see life?). 

 

The problem the so called Entertainers representatives in government has caused the sector is just too enormous, cause they have done nothing but bring more suffering, pain, disrespect and distrust to the entertainment sector of the state. 

 

Taking our minds back to the last victory party of GODWIN OBASEKI, a total amount of 3 million naira was set aside for the local content of over 200persons against 30 million given to just 6 external entertainers. 

 

Do u know as we speak the 3million allocated to the local content was taken by the same entertainers representatives in government, leaving them to go and die……..I can go on and on, of so much pain these person has inflicted on us. (God must punish them). 

 

Possible solution to this rubbish:

 

 1 Government should stay totally away from the entertainment sector for now, pending when the whole entertainers in the state come to a consensus addendum. (i.e Unanimous agreement). 

 

2 A panel by the government should be setup to look at the past and present activities of the entertainment sector of the state 

 

3 All governmental events should go through the commissioner for act culture and tourism 

 

4 All political empowerment for entertainers should be decided by all entertainers (I know say na here fight go dey). 

 

5 Any entertainer that chooses to be empowered by the government on personal relationship, should be taken to another sector like ministry of Agric, Education, Health etc, not entertainment (I use God beg u). 

 

The Executive Governor of Edo state GODWIN OBASEKI, I mean no disrespect but please I beg you, do not let entertainment die in your state and in your time. For personal reasons I will not mention my name, am just an Edo old entertainer that’s just not happy. Please to those lovers of entertainment in our lovely state and beyond share this message to as many on social media until it goes viral….. ABEG MAKE UNA PASS ON BEFORE WE ALL GO DIE

 

Thankfully,  Governor Obaseki is already eyeing entertainment in the state as a viable tool for job creation. The governor made this known recently when the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Benin Zonal Network, unveiled a new television series in the state [see here] hopefully other entertainers in the state can key into the governor's plan to provide a platform for young talented people to grow by reaching out to the appropriate offices in charge of the new projects.
