Obaseki vows to construct 3,000km roads in Edo by 2020

The Edo state Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has promised to construct 3,000 kilometer roads across the state before the end of his tenure in 2020 to ease traffic.

Obaseki who disclosed this while commissioning Nevis Street in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo state yesterday declared that he has come yo change the face of politics in Nigeria.

The governor said Edo doesn't need foreign exchange to construct road and deliver other dividends of democracy to the people as the state is richly blessed with abundant mineral, human and the natural resources which if harnessed will enhance the well being of its people.

He noted that the construction of the 400 meters rigid pavement in Nevis Street in the state has confirmed that government can make promise and fulfill them.

He noted that Nevis Street was designed 500 years ago by Oba Esigie adding that the street is important to the people of the state considering the personality of the designer of the street and called on residents of the area to maintain the road and other government property.

"We do not have to depend on foreign exchange before we can build our roads because we have the resources here both human and natural resources" he added.

"I have come to change the face of politics in Nigeria. The construction of this 400 meters rigid pavement in this Nevis Street that we are commissioning today, has shown to us that government can make promises and fulfill them", he said.
