The Oba of Benin. Omo N'Oba N'Edo Uku-Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare II has hinted that the palace was committed to the general wellbeing of the people.
The Oba stated this when the South South, Zone F Vice President of NUJ, Mr Eddy Ogunde led Executive Members of the zone to Omo N'Oba's palace in Benin Edo state capital.
Iba Ewuare stressed that the palace authority will not betray the confidence repose on it by the union as ground patron urging the union members to always cross check facts before going to press.
Omo N'Oba maintained that accurate and balanced reportage was key to societal development and urged the journalists to join hands with the government via their reportage to build a virile economic state for the development of the citizens
The monarch used the occasion to of offer prayers to God and ancestors for union's success.
On his part, The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), hailed the Oba for his developmental strides since ascending the throne of his ancestors as the 40th Oba of Benin kingdom.
Mr Ogunde described Oba Ewuare the second as an astute reformer, noting that the ascension of the monarch to throne of his ancestors marked the beginning of great things in the kingdom and the state at large.
The Zonal NUJ chief stressed that the joint effort of the royal father with the state government was a massive boost to industrial development and economic growth of the state for the good of all.
Mr Eddy Ogunde had earlier earmarked the Oba that they were at the palace to seek royal blessings ahead of the brainstorming meeting in Benin city on how to move the nation forward as well as improve developmental journalism.
