Police smash kidnapping gang, rescue victims, Arrest Four suspects in Rivers State

The Command’s anti – kidnapping Unit of the Rivers State Police Command led by the Commander SP Edward Shadare early Wednesday, acting on credible intelligence smashed a kidnapping gang, at Rumuoduru, Port Harcourt, where Mrs. Abigail Eseme Oroboh who was kidnapped from her residence on Friday Aprll 6, was rescued unhurt.

The operatives while playing along with the kidnappers for ransom, tracked them to their residence where the lady was kept in chains. However on sighting the Police engaged them and in a return fire one of them was fatally wounded while two others escaped.

Items recovered from them include three locally made pistols, one constructed iron riffle, thirty rounds of live Ammunition, one black lexus 330 Jeep, their Operational vehicle which they have been using to perpetrate their criminal acts.

The lady has been debriefed and released to her husband for medical attention. Meanwhile efforts have been intensified to arrest the fleeing hoodlums.

 

Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Command on Tuesday, April 11 also arrested four members of a kidnap/robbery gang that abducted one Mr Nsisong Nsikang. While on patrol along waterlines around 1pm, a team of policemen from the Elekahia Division led by the DPO CSP James Ngei Chu chased and intercepted a light blue Nissan Sunny Primera REG NO GU 586 LND with the suspects in it. 

The four-man gang led by one Samuel Bassey includes one Agada Stephen an informant to the gang and colleague of the victim, Mr Nsikang, who was kidnapped along Rumukalagbor area.

However one member of the gang escaped with cash and other valuables.

 

 Investigation is now ongoing.

The public is advised to be extra vigilant and report any suspicious movement in their neighborhood to the Police as kidnappers have evolved a new means of kidnapping and taking to their living houses.
