Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki has congratulated both Chief Alfred Eghobamien (SAN) and Charles Edosomwan (SAN) for their appointments as Life Members of the Body of Benchers, which is the elite body of the legal profession in Nigeria, at the Supreme Court.
In a statement from the office of the Chief Press Secretary, the governor noted that there is no question on the appositeness of their achievement because he had watched with profound admiration as the lawyers overcame several landmark cases and achieved several milestones.
On Chief Eghobamien (SAN), he said, “King Alfred, – for so you are, and so I must call you – Edo remembers the important role you played for the state when you represented her at the National Political Reform Conference in 2005. Despite your broad-mindedness, vast knowledge and the extensive experience you have garnered from travelling far and wide, you still never forgot your roots and that is why you are the Okhenagbo of Okpella”.
Meanwhile, he also hailed Edosomwan (SAN) noting that there was more to his personality than the legal luminary that everyone knows, and expressing pleasure that he had gotten to know him as a friend.
“It is a privilege for me to have such an erudite of the legal profession working with me. He is not just a splendid lawyer, but he is also a wonderful person with advanced scruples. I share in his joy and pride on this award and pray for more to come”.
The governor went further to encourage young lawyers to be honest and diligent in the discharge of their duties; assuring them that with time, such eminent awards as life-members of the body of benchers would come their way.
