Opinion: On Breakdown Of Security In Calabar

Over the weekend, about nine (9) people were killed in Calabar South.
There were also reports of sporadic gunshots in Calabar Municipality and incidents of robbery/rampant theft. The security situation in Calabar calls for renewed concerns and one the government must wake up and act fast.
Opinion: On Breakdown Of Security In Calabar
It is an indisputable fact that the emergence of Ayade administration brought with it insecurity across the state, noticeably in the breakdown of law and order, rampant cases of inter-communal clashes,
kidnapping of expatriates and citizens alike, increased incidents of armed robbery and killings, cult wars, etc. In fact, we have never had it this bad. Everyday we are a washed on the social media with the many MOUs Gov. Ayade is signing with investors, and you wonder who is going to invest in an environment that is polarized by insecurity.

Already, With the recent cult activities and kidnapping, people are leaving Calabar. Small businesses are suffering. Hotels are suffering too. We are in a serious quagmire. Destination Cross River is unsafe. It will be a twist of irony if the state will continue to waste her meager resources promoting tourism when in actual sense there is no semblance of security in Cross River State.
It's like a mixture of oil and water. Similarly, the trend at which the security situation is going in Calabar will require us to consider allocating the same resources and 'dancing' zeal put in Calabar Christmas Carnival into security.
After all, a living dog is better than a dead lion. Sadly, my dear Governor is not sincere on security issues and it's similar with the way he handles other issues that bother on the running of the state and the management of its resources.
He is full of unfulfilled promises and lack the determination and charisma needed of a leader to step into the shoes Duke and Liyel left behind. I need to remind him that the situation in Calabar was worst than what is obtainable now before Don Duke came on board.
Calabar South (bayside) was turbulent, Calabar was synonymous with cultism. UNICAL was always on rampage, robbery became a societal norm. Donald Duke stamped his feet and got Calabar going.

So Ayade must fix this !
