Mother Of 5 Year-Old Fire Survivor Begs Obaseki for Help

Mother of a 5 year-old boy who survived a fire incident last Sunday in Benin City, Mrs Sophia Denis has begged Governor Godwin Obaseki and well meaning Nigerians for financial assistance.

It would be recall that a mystery fire had engulfed a building at Ijiorgbor street, off Upper Sakponba road in Ikpoba Okha Local government area of Edo state where a 3 year-old boy was reportedly burnt beyond recognition while the other narrowly whisked away.



Mrs Denis who spoke to newsmen Yesterday at the University Of Benin Teaching Hospital, UBTH said doctors confirmed that Martin Denis her surviving son has a 5050 chance to live and if the finance to save him is not readily available, his condition might be worse.

She stated that they lost everything they had to the inferno and noted that she is just a petty pap seller whose husband is currently jobless.

Also, she explained that the cause of the inferno was unknown but that her early arrival to the house after market sale led to the rescue of her bedridden son.





Mrs Denis who was shot of words said, “When I got home and saw the fire, the windows and doors were locked. Our neighbours told me to bring my key but I told them I have no key that I left the children with their father. So the neighbours were helping me break the door.

“The area my other son were was the part that was burning but this one was not there but because of the heat, he was badly injured.

“I have lost everything. I have lost my son. I am pleading with the government to help me. I don’t have money and I sell pap. Their father doesn’t have a job.

“I beg everybody to come and rescue my child for me. The doctor said its 5050 that it’s only money that can make him live”. She stated.
