The Palace of the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II was agog when residents, Chiefs trooped in their large number to catch a glimpse of a gift of a live tiger presented to the monarch by Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, the Esama of the Kingdom.
Oba Ewuare N'Ogidigan took royal steps out of his Chambers to receive the gift from the donor who said he was moved to present the symbolic tiger to the monarch's chambers as part of respect to the palace.
The Bini royal father however lauded the effort of Chief Igbinedion, saying it was a well thought idea of presenting the seven months old tiger to the royal house.
He also challenged all parents in the kingdom home and abroad to encourage and assist their wards to speak and write in Bini language as means of identification and promotion of Bini culture
Oba Ewuare N'Ogidigan the second, gave the challenge when he received the three kids he awarded scholarships during his post coronation tour to villages and communities of Edo south senatorial zone, and their parents at his palace in Benin city
Oba Ewuare the second charged the parents of the awardees to guard their children to obtain proficiency level in the use of Bini language and culture at all level of education maintaining that the palace was determined in reviving the Bini rich cultural heritage that were in systemic decay
It could be recalled that the Bini monarch awarded scholarship to master Agobor Aisosa, Osakpamwan Osagumwenro and Osukhon Gift of Osaretin primary school in Egboko village, Orhionmwon local government area of the state for their exemptional performance in narrating an ancient Bini story in Edo language during his post coronation tour to the area.
